Timex Expedition Uplander Watch

Wow. After finding this gem, I read most of all the reviews here and ordered it.1. The watch itself looks way better than the picture.2. The band. I got this watch because of the rubber band. This band is so smooth and soft. If you know G-Shock bands, this is way way smoother than those. And I believe this watch cost justifies itself just for the band.3. Watch is light. Very light and not too thick. You have to look at it yourself.4. Ticking sound====> I own (as of now) 4 Timex's and wear them all regularly. If you own a Timex, this one ticks just as loud as those. Yes, it bothers me when I'm in quiet place or try to sleep but this is not louder than other Timex's. So if you know the loudness of regular Timex, then, there shouldn't be any surprises regarding the sound.5. I bought this for the summer. Hot/humid, and I get into water a lot (pools). So not sure if this is going to fog up (like some other reviewer said).So far I'm very satisfied with the look, weight, and (most importantly) how the band looks and feels. By this just for the sake of the band. You won't regret.

I'm only giving this 4 stars because I'm old enough to remember the Timex models of yesteryear. While I wasn't expecting Seiko or Citizen quality, there was a time Timex were fairly well built & solid. So far this watch has held up okay but it sure does feel cheesy in build quality. Perhaps I shouldn't put too much weight into that because the original band is still on it. I always intended on swapping the band but I'm not going to until I'm comfortable the watch itself will hold up. So far it's been 'Just Okay.' Works fine for my intended use, reasonably comfortable, competitively priced, and easy on my aging eyes even at night. I will revise my review if I'm dis-satisfied with it but at the moment it's fine.

Another great and very inexpensive watch from Timex. My only beef is that the bezel, which is very visible, almost prominent, does not rotate! This is typical with many Timex models, and I'm sure that it's directly related to price. But a bezel that looks this nice should be a working one, in my opinion. Brings the rating down to four instead of five stars. HOWEVER---the watch, like all my Timex's, is accurate to a "T". The face is very easy to read at a quick glance, thanks to the nice contrast between the black dial and white hands and numbers. The watch looks and is rugged, and I'm not afraid to get it wet. The camo-style strap is a nice touch and lends to the "outdoorsy" feel of the watch. The movement is a little noisy, and you WILL notice the sound of it ticking. Personally I like the sound of a ticking watch, though when I was younger I hated it, and so can understand why some people find it objectionable. All in all, I would recommend this watch without hesitation.

As advertised--no real surprises. I've owned many Timex watches over the years & only had one disappointing one. This one was another win. Several things potential buyers should know...:1. The bezel ring does NOT rotate. This is normal as I've had other Timex watches & the ring is always for looks only.2. The hands are luminous (if exposed to enough light beforehand) but the numbers are not.3. Some of the comments in the reviews I have read say the watch ticks loudly. It does not. It does tick, but unless you have Superman's super hearing it's a non-issue. I can only surmise that some people have never previously owned an analog watch.4. It's what you should expect at this price point. I don't see anything out there that is a better buy for the buck. Timex Men's T49940 Expedition Uplander Black/Orange Resin Strap Watch

Love this watch. It's my new favorite. I paired it with an orange and black NATO style band. It's light and comfortable. The indigo light works well and even the hands are luminous.

I have three Timex Expeditions, this is the latest purchase. I have beat up the first one (purchased in '12) thru work, swimming and travel and it is still ticking, keeping good time. The second one purchased in'14 was a little nicer than the first Expedition and it goes most places (in the water too) other than work and keeps on ticking. The T49940 was purchased to replace a rather expensice Seiko that has not wprked very well and did not keep on ticking. I found the T49940 to be as advertised and pleased with my purchase. These are not expensive wrist watches, however mine have not failed me, they look good, are easy to use and just keep on ticking, keep the correct time.

As usual, this Timex expedition looks and functions very well. I have tried many different watches for use as work watches over the last 30 years, and regardless of brand or cost the only ones I have found that hold up are Timex. They may not look as good as some others, but they are tough, accurate, and an excellent value for the price. For work and outdoor recreation I don't know of a more practical watch than the Timex indiglo expedition series!They are extremely water and shock resistant work horses and at their price it's not a problem to purchase a new one every year or two when the battery dies or the watch is beat up looking,even though they usually still work just fine.

I got the watch for use as a work watch in the construction field. I didn't take into respect that the fabric strap though well made and nice looking would get dirty frequently with concrete and dirt and wet at times so it will only look good until that happens. It's shell is made of plastic so we'll see how that holds up it should be fine it's a timer. The only thing I don't like is the timing ring on the front of the ring doesn't turn so I can't time down. But I'm confident it will do well

Awesome! I really like this watch. It's probably my 4th or 5th Timex. The calfskin band is very comfortable and watch is easily readable in any conditions. Some reviews mention that the face is actually green and not black as in the photos. This is true, but under some conditions the green appears almost black. It looks great in green, though IMHO.
