Hard to navigate multi button controls
These devices are easy enough to understand and install. Charging doesn’t take too long and seems to last all day. I haven’t tested for over a day without charging. Fitting was easy enough in my helmet (Scorpion) has it has a preformed location for the 40mm speakers to fit in. They are in the correct place. I fitted the mini mic. All easy enough. Pairing the two was easy and worked. Pairing to iPhones works too. Simple enough controls to activate intercom. All works well. There was a leaflet in the box to show you the URL to register your devices and upgrade the firmware version. Mine came with v1.0 and they upgraded to v1,2 I think. No issues all worked. It even set the voices for my language. When they turn on you can hear the speakers when your not wearing the helmet when you change the volume settings. There is an iOS app, downloaded and works well. It allows come customisation to your device. Settings include scanning radio stations, quick dial and Bluetooth changes. Personally I changed the default Bluetooth names so I can identify them if I mix them up in the future. All works well.Bad pointsIf you set up the unit as shown in the photos (as in near the back) you can’t press the front and rear buttons together at the exact same time, this is required to speak to Siri. The index and middle fingers are probably best for this and it’s too difficult at the rear. I moved mine further forward to make it easier. It’s really difficult to press both together even when you’re not wearing the helmet. To me this would be better as a single press setup. There are a lot of multi button functions and multi tap functions on one button to learn. It’s easy to try something and get it wrong and you end up in a menu system which isn’t easy to escape from. It’s easy to start music from your phone that you just can’t stop.I tried to get maps to talk to be on a journey with the phone in my pocket. It works but after a while the audio stops so I’ll check why that is. I have not paired with an actual sat nav yet.Audio quality is normally good up to 50-60mph. You’re not going to be heard or hear a lot over this speed. You find yourself talking with no response sometimes. Also occasionally you have to repeat what you just said because the audio has zitter. Even rider to pillion. I can’t see how that would be. However this is very occasionally and the quality of normally excellent. I can’t comment on any distances to the pillion or make comments on pairing to another rider on a different system

Works nicely, speakers failed quickly but got new ones sent out for free
3 Year Review - This Freecom 4 has been used daily for the last 3 years, and I must say im impressed. I mostly use it to listen to music and talk to my girlfriend while we're riding. The speaker quality is ok, loud enough to listen to music even while wearing ear plugs however the sound quality won't blow you away. You can purchase JBL speakers that are supposed to sound better but they cost about half of what the whole Freecom 4 setup does. My speakers failed after a few months but they sent me new ones for free and they haven't failed since. My microphone also failed after 6 months, and I have been using the boomstick microphone provided as a backup which hasn't failed, though a little bit inconvenient to fit in the helmet. I also find that I have to speak quite loudly for my girlfriend to hear me even with the microphone sensitivity turned all the way up.In terms of durability, it's very good, It has been through plenty of rainy days without breaking a sweat, not to mention has been dropped a fair few times. Apart from a few scratches, it's completely fine. The usability is quite good as well. There are only 4 buttons and they're easy to use even with big gloves. I wish you could pause music while riding. As far as I know you can only skip a song, or return to the previous one, but not pause it. As far as connecting to another person, it's easy enough as long as they have a Cardo too. My girlfriend has the Freecom 2+ and connecting to her was easy, and now when our Cardo's are both on, we can switch between communication and music with the press of a button. All in all, im extremely impressed with the Freecom 4 and for the price, would buy one again if mine ever failed.

It works well
Don't use headset too often but when carrying Pillion it is essential. Have to be careful how many things are running at once, as it can be confusing and difficult when riding. The sat nav was good, the intercom good and the phone was seamless. Separation distance was very good. Battery life was longer than 6 hours, and consequently you have to speak to reactivate after a minute or two. Takes a bit of practice to learn how to use it, with all the button functions and setting it up. Worthwhile doing this at home and practicing a lot before setting off. Saves a lot of frustration on the road. Won't use the phone as its too distracting. The sat nav link is ideal for solo riding but can be annoying with pillion being cut off. Can share inputs, like sat nav, phone, music, with the pillion too. A great system and a good price ..

Turns itself off when connection to satnav is lost for a reasonable time.
At first I was disappointed compared to my Scala Rider that I've had since 2008. The Scala Rider immediately reconnected with my old Garmin satnav as soon as the satnav was turned back on. The Freecom1 didn't reconnect and I eventually came to realise that it turns itself off when it has been out of range of the satnav for a period of time such as a lunch break etc. Once it is turned back on it still takes a while to achieve a connection again but once connected it continues to work ok.

Buy it! It transformed my riding
I never review stuff but I got really excited to review this! Quite literally transformed biking for me! I’m a Harley rider and love my old school pi$$ pot style kid but bought a full face modular HJC to commute with and use the bike longer in the season to combat the cold. I added the freecom2 so I could have music and make calls. It’s increadable! The sound quality even over a proper loud Harley is awesome! Even making called peopleCant even hear my bike with I’m on the gas at good speeds. It’s like making a call from my living room! And you can even answer a call by just saying HELLO.All I can say is buy one.
