Synopsis:In Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, Oscar®-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson returns to the role of the magical nanny who appears when she’s needed the most and wanted the least in the next chapter of the hilarious and heartwarming fable that has enchanted children around the world. In the latest installment, Nanny McPhee appears at the door of a harried young mother, Mrs. Isabel Green (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. But once she’s arrived, Nanny McPhee discovers that Mrs. Green’s children are fighting a war of their own against two spoiled city cousins who have just moved in and refuse to leave. Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and a statue that comes to life to a tree-climbing piglet and a baby elephant who turns up in the oddest places, Nanny McPhee uses her magic to teach her mischievous charges five new lessons.

Nanny McPhee doesnt like Goodbyes.... WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Great family entertainment that even had hard-of-heart-old-Taxi-Driver-loving me weeping at the end (especially the reference to the first film!). My 3 and a half year old LOVED the first one and watched it OVER and OVER again. This isnt as good but still a heartening old bag of fun all the same. However, this one went slightly more over the head of my daughter with some more 'adult' references like wars, class etc. Too hard to explain to a 3 year old what a war is really! But as in the first one, great performances all round and some inspired casting (Bill Bailey, Rhys Ifans). Perfect for keeping the kids quiet during the summer. I really hope they continue making more Nanny McPhee films. I am definately a (secret) fan. Give in and ENJOY.

Fantastic family film !
This sequal follows a similar story arc to the first Nanny McPhee but the story is very different.I loved the first film and didn't expect too much from this one as quite often I am dissappointed by sequals, however this time I was very plesantly surprised, I think they stuck to the basic outline of the first one and put in the parts which they needed to and surrounded them by a fantastically funny and magical new story. My two boys who are 6 and 7 absolutely loved it and have already watched the dvd 5 times, we really hope they do a third film in the series, as Nanny McPhee is such a great character. The DVD itself has a small selection of extras, mainly featurettes and all in all isn't a bad price.

Great - not just for kids
I loved this funny and quirky film. Children and adults will enjoy it alike and if you loved the first film, you will not be disappointed about this one. This film is set in 2nd world war Britain and is not quite as brightly coloured than the previous film but there is a lot of attention to small, quirky details and the more you watch the fim, the more of these you will notice.I was not so keen of Maggie Gillenhaal's performance, which I found very exaggerated and a bit artificial but my friends did not agree with me, so that's just my personal opinion!

My 5 year old granddaughter enjoyed it all though and that’s the main thing
Despite some first class casting this follow-on just can’t quite capture the same magic as the first film. The wicked uncle belongs in a St Trinian’s film rather than this one but the toffee nosed boy cousin is just right for the part. My 5 year old granddaughter enjoyed it all though and that’s the main thing. It’s certainly worth the £5.99 we paid to stream it.
