I loved both the book and the movie.

I got this movie as I had also bought the Noble House. It was good overall but you can tell that it kinda skips through in spots and they could have expanded far more and even made it a 4 hour movie or more. But I like it. I'm glad I did read the reveiws as I was originally going to buy a different but cheaper version and was glad it was out of stock, as the other version apparently had a lot of subtitles and was really butchered up. I'm glad i got this one, but do wish the price had of been a bit lower, but sometimes you have to pay a bit more for what you really want.

The movie plot is a four out of five stars.

Great movie, the lesson for me is to be yourself, on guard and ready to fight the ones who would kick you and bring you down no matter how high you ascend. And sometimes you have to get PHYSICAL to do it.

Do not purchase this DVD. I was stunned that the DVD suddenly ended. The original end of the movie was cut out and the movie ends with Dirk and May May hugging during the typhoon. The description should have mentioned that the movie had been altered.Also It arrived the disk and become loose and the DVD is scratched.

I am one of the very few really crazy fans of tai pan and Noble House. I am happy silly about the DVD. I originally recorded this live on VHS. I am impressed by the quality of the digital master. You can see the all the sharp details. I am very pleased and very happy with menus, picture and sound quality.This is the second book in a long time line from Shogun to King Rat to Noble House. All of these are connected.

Cheap copy cut the ending - low quality. Will not buy from them again

Tai Pan is the prelude to the novel and movie Noble House. both novels Tai Pan and noble house are written by James Clavell and Tai Pan is a movie that needs to be watched and enjoyed before proceeding to Noble House. It is both historic (early trade with China) and adventurous. The movie has Action, forbidden romance, forbidden trade and the usual betrayal between friends,family. A must see classic.

Excellent film. Had the vhs previously.The only disappointment was the original ending was not included. Still a good movie.

El pedido llegó a tiempo pero cuando llegó estaba bastante deteriorado y no se veía. He tenido que devolver sin problema, pero me he quedado con ganas de verla. No se si volveré a pedir otro.

A good film, but with such a short time available, inevitably misses most of the nuances and intrigue of the original book. Recommend reading the book/kindle to get the full flavour of Clavell's world. UPDATE - On 2nd watching, down rated from 5 star (outstanding/excellent) to 4 star (very good/good). Still recommended.
