No, this too small. this designed for thin items like wood shingles.

How wide is the blade? Looks like about an inch?

The blade is exactly 1 inch wide the opening for the blade is 1-1/16

Can you use this for trimming soft metals like lead came (for stained glass)?

I wouldn't recommend soft metals. I definitely don't recommend doing anything with lead (too toxic).
