Great little bike light that's very bright - BEWARE nearly impossible to mount on helmet as shown in picture
Originally I purchased this light because I was looking for something rechargeable, powerful, and able to be mounted to my helmet. I particularly wanted a helmet mount so that when I commute in the dark winter mornings/evenings I can point my light directly at cars in intersections so that they have a better chance of seeing me.My first impressions were a mixture of excitement, surprise, and a little disappointment. Excited to have a helmet mount, surprised and pleased with the size and brightness of the light, but somewhat disappointed at how difficult it is to mount the external battery to my helmet. The battery mounting strap, although nice and sturdy, is also quite bulky and it is nearly impossible to situate it in such a way that you don't feel it pressing against your head when you put on your helmet. The instructions actually say that the battery pack is designed to be carried in a pocket or a backpack rather than mounted on the helmet (which is completely different than the pictures on the Amazon posting). To be fair, and as most have pointed out in their reviews, the battery does add noticeable weight to the set-up and some may not buy this to put on their helmet anyway. I am used to wearing a much heavier football helmet so I don't find the added weight to be a problem. By the way, I was able to find a serviceable location to mount the battery on the back of my helmet. Some additional thoughts on this product:Pros:The light is relatively small, but it is still quite brightBecause of its size, the light itself is not very heavy (great for mounting to a helmet or saving space on your handlebar)4 different settings: dim, brighter, brightest and flashBecause it has an external battery pack the light lasts longer than most all-in-one optionsEquipped with semi-smart feature - the light dims automatically when it notices you are stopped for a longer period of time so that the light doesn't overheat, then brightens back up when ridingRechargeableCons:Difficult to mount battery to your helmet, and the instructions even say it should be carried in a backpack (even though the advertisement shows it actually mounted)The battery does add noticeable weight to your helmet (although I'm sure most people would know enough about batteries to expect that)The flash function is a bit slow, meaning the flash intervals are a bit longer and spaced a bit farther apart than I would expect (certainly not a deal breaker, but something to consider if the flash function is why you are looking at this light)I wish the manufacturer would have gone with a USB charging cord instead of their own system...that's sound advice for nearly ALL manufacturers of electronic devices these daysOverall I would still recommend this light to my bicycle-commuting friends. It is small and bright--hard to argue with that. If you are hoping for a helmet-mounting light, you can get this to work, but you may be happier with an all-in-one option like the torch 500 and then buying/rigging a helmet mount for it.

The guiding light in the darkness
Item is quite bright. Battery mount is easily done on a helmet. Only comment is for the light mount. So the rubber insert can do handlebars or go around the plastic base to hold the light on. That works fine, although I recommend pliers to get it through the gap.The only complaint I have is the Velcro straps on the plastic mount. there are two on each side, quite long. It seems like one would be plenty to wrap around a helmet up and through on the other side. However, with the second strap attached it is nigh impossible to do this. Naturally you think, take off the other strap! Ah, but I would, however it is attached with a very nice unremovable clasp. Your options at this point:Wrap these giant velcro tentacles all up and around your helmet it some chaotic fashion until you are satisfied with the stability, OR cut the other strap off. I'm currently going with option A as I don't tend to like removing components from new things right when I get them and they are solidly attached and it isn't inconveniencing me at the moment. Perhaps I'd want to mount this around a watermelon someday and if I cut the strap off, how could I ever do that?TL;DR; Awesome light, battery lasts, everything is sealed and waterproofed for weather. Charging is quick and the power button glows when it has power so you can see it in the dark. Super velcro tentacles are the only downside. Get your samurai sword.

Great, well built light
I wanted a new helmet light, but this is not it.... However, it a key to my overall lighting setup.Currently, my main night riding equipment is an existing handlebar mounted Cygolite Mitycross 800 and a helmet mounted LED spotlight. In addition to my two 'main' lights, I have a fork mounted small white LED I put on 'blink', a rear helmet mounted red LED on 'blink,' and a rear seat posted mounted tail light with I use a 'random blinking' pattern with. Finally, I have another white handle bar mounted light that depending on the night will either be an additional close in spot light, used as a 'blinky,' or off to be used as a backup if another light dies.I have been looking for a smaller form factor spotlight to replace my existing helmet light. I prefer a spotlight mounted on my helmet to look out to my sides, into the distance, and to get the attention of cars around me when using roads. The Cycle Torch GT800 output compares favorably to my existing handlebar mounted Cygolite Mitycross 800. When compared against my helmet mounted LED spotlight, it does not match the focus of the spotlight. However, this is not an issue with the Cycle Torch itself since my current spotlight (allegedly) has more lumens output. My LED headlamp punches out much further in a tighter beam which is what I am looking for on my helmet mount. However, I have not been pleased with the mounting of my existing helmet light because it is a little kludgey. I experimented with the Cycle Torch helmet mounting in several ways. I did not prefer to mount the battery pack on the helmet because of the weight and seemed to unbalance my helmet. However, with the long cable from the light to the battery, I can put it in a jersey or coat pocket without worry. With the battery in the pocket the weight on the helmet from just the light becomes irrelevant and increased the comfort from my existing solution. However, because of my preference for a focused helmet mounted spotlight, for my uses, the Cycle Torch is better as an additional handle bar mounted light and I can retire (and significantly upgrade from) my older "backup" light. For a non-scientific light output comparison (and rather obvious reasons), the Cycle Torch Gt800 (800 Lumens) light easily overpowers my FENIX TK11 (258 Lumens), but does not beat my Nitecore P12 (1000 Lumens) handheld flashlights. FWIW, my current helmet light is allegedly 1600 Lumens (I doubt that it is though).Bottom line, the Cycle Torch Gt800 is a solid light that is built tough. Compared to my Cygolite which has simple power plug from the battery to the light, the Cycle Torch has a much better twist lock battery to light connection. It is a tiny light for the power it puts out; for comparison, my Cygolite has 2 LED and the Cycle Torch has 1. I am not in love with the Cycle Torch mounting, but I think it is appropriate for the unit and is not a deal breaker. I have contacted Cycle Torch with a couple of questions, and the help was top notch and extremely responsive. Finally, the Cycle Torch is a fraction of the cost of the Cygolite.

Very pleased with this product
I am very happy with the lights! Huey came packaged very professionally. The fit and finish are excellent! They took seconds to install. Once on the road I was so impressed. I ride with someone who has a light with two bulbs. My light was brighter and shone further.
