Stainless Steel 304 Slide Bolt Latch
Stainless Steel 304 Slide Bolt Latch, Satin Finish, Non Locking, 1-31/32" Bolt Plate Length, 53/64" Throw Plate Length ReviewI bought this to lock a swinging french door. I needed to keep a 120 lb Great Dane in a the room when i wasn't there. And she has a habit of moving whatever i put in front of the door. After installing this and using a large drill bit and wood chisel to make the hole for it to slide into it works like a charm. I have brushed nickle hand push plates on the doors already so it matched as well. Slides easy and it holds. if you shimmy the door it will open eventually but so far my Dane hasn't figured that out.Pro’s• Looks great and easy to install, comes with all the hardware for flush mount or slide into the door jam• Stays slid good even with shimmying the door• Keeps my Great Dane in (so far)Con’s• Shimmying the door makes it slide open• Screws suck but i made them work, im handyConclusionThis locked worked out very well. It looks great, is sturdy and function as good as i can hope. It does open if you shimmy the door when its locked but i already knew that it didn't lock in place

Very well made - but adjust the slider detents
This slide latch is very well made, and its polished mirror finish is quite nice. All of its parts (including the supplied screws) are made from 304 stainless steel - a somewhat expensive material that will last forever. For dimensional details just open (or download the pdf) the drawing shown just below the picture of the latch. The slide is double-ended (rounded on both ends) so all mounting arrangement are possible. The slide is not spring loaded - it has two detents that will hold the slide in the open or closed position. The detents are very difficult to see on the drawing. I made a small adjustment to make the detents hold the slide firmly in place as the stock setting is very loose. The slide has a bottom cover plate with two round holes for the detent bumps (on the slider) to pop into to hold the slider in place. Gently support the slide assembly upside down in a vise. Using a flat-nose punch (drift punch) and small hammer lightly tap around each hole to move the holes closer to the slider. Make a small adjustment and test until you get a latch feel that you like. Sounds complicated, but it only took 2 minutes to get a nice latch action. I used the latch on a fence gate. Being a perfectionist and wanting the smoothest possible action, I put a bevel on the top edge of the nose of the slider and the bottom edge of the clasp (the hat section piece) using a die file and finishing with a stone (another three minutes of effort).

Easy to install, easy to use, easy to clean
It's perfect for what we needed it for.My band's studio is in an old house with vibe, but not all the door locks work. So we got this for the bathroom door, since guests obviously need to be able to lock it for privacy. It's clean, easy to install, and easy to use. I'll be getting more of these for other doors. It's also very easy to keep clean, and due to the chrome plating, doesn't get dirty or rust easily, unlike many of the sliding locks we've seen.

Well-Made Stainless Latch
I used this latch for a small, fabricated storage area on my travel trailer and mounted it using pop rivets. I I needed a stainless latch and this one will last for as long as I own my trailer and secures my door nicely. It was worth the price and is easy to use.

Five Stars
Perfect for what I needed it for. Kiddos can't open the door now and get out without me knowing.

This latch is exactly what I needed for our greenhouse ...
This latch is exactly what I needed for our greenhouse door. Seems well made. The original latch lasted less than two years because it wasn't for exterior use. As it turns out this one installed perfectly over the old holes. I anticipate this lasting for years.

Nice little latch
I didn't pay attention to the throw length when I purchased (my fault) but it worked out to be long enough for my purpose. It's installed on an exterior shed door. It works smoothly and feels solid. I'm buying more of them.

Three Stars
I returned them because they wouldn't work for where I intended them to.
