If you're after a thumpy, deep, hollow body tone then you ought to consider this. The sound is reminiscent of a stand-up bass. You can practice with it, unplugged but I find myself plucking too hard to get a good tone while acoustic.In my opinion, this bass is best suited to country, blues and rock. You can, of course, change it all up with some pedals but, I mean....if you want to play slap bass, buy a solid body. Though, you can slap it and it sounds like a drum through the amp. Same if you want to play metal, get a solid.The scale is short so packing it up for a gig isn't a big deal. However, it is fat. Almost as fat as an acoustic guitar. This takes some getting used to. It is more difficult to stand and play it and I find it's better for sitting in an easy chair and thumping away with a small 40-watt amp at home.I like it for its sound and its passive pickup simplicity.The craftsmanship is very good and the finish and banding are without defect.If you plan on playing with a band or even just drums....get at least a 100watt amp.Anyway, thank you, Ibanez for making this cool bass.

Workmanship is high quality and the finish is gorgeous. The sound is unique. I'm in love. I personally feel it is good value for the price... Did I mention the beautiful, melodic and unique sound but can still dig through if needed?🙂
