Best external enclosure I've used
I've used a variety of external drive enclosures over the years, mostly just for USB drives attached to a computer. I bought the Novus because the drive I installed in it will have to go on the road with me from time to time and I wanted the protection afforded by the silicon "sleeve". It's electronics and a drive so I will treat it accordingly. The protection is for the occasional bump it may get.First, it arrived precisely as predicted, well done Amazon.Packaging was easy to open and everything was individually wrapped. There are actually PRINTED instructions included, although they're hardly necessary. This is a very simple, but well designed enclosure. And everything fits like a well engineered and constructed product. As nearly as I can tell it is manufactured in the USA using materials from the USA. But I could not find that specifically stated even on their web site.My 8TB (purchased separately) 3.5" drive slid right in - at a slight angle to enable aligning and mating the SATA connector in the case. This was very easy. Everything fit, aligned and went together perfectly. There was a small zip lock bag containing 12 screws - 8 for mounting the drive - only 4 required. Two different types provided. And there were four black screws to secure the "sled" inside the case. It is also very nice they included a small MAGNETIZED screwdriver. This is good because they ensure users have the right SIZE and tip screwdriver and also because the tiny screws are...tiny. MUCH easier to install using the magnetized screwdriver than trying to start them by hand.I may not get out enough but I haven't seen a lot of thunderbolt connectors, although I would like to. And I don't have any. So it is great that they also provided a USB-c - to - USB-A cable for connection to my system. The one 'ding' I'll give them is the freakin' wall wart! I would very much have preferred a slightly larger enclosure with the wall wart electronics inside the case and a normal AC power cord. I thought about taking off a star in the rating for that but they're not the only ones guilty of using them! So suffice to say, it's an area that NEEDS improvement.Overall, an excellent and very well designed and manufactured product. I would buy another if I needed another external enclosure and highly recommend them to anyone who may need one.

Easy peasy
I have bought so many of these. I make films and this has been my go to for storage drives. I buy bare drives and then cycle them through these enclosures. Thre or four have covered the last five or six movies I have done. Very happy with this product. Would highly recommend. Easy to load. Easy to operate.

Phenomenal HDD Enclosure
Fast, I've transferred several gigs of movie files in under 15 minutes. And it's NEVER dropped the connection to a computer once in my 3 years owning it, despite being connected for up to 4-5 days straight in several instances. In fact, I got a 2nd for a dedicated travel HDD.

Rare feature combination but pricey
I looked for US product with combination of characteristics like latest USB-C\Thunderbolt 3-4 support, aluminum case with ventilation holes, large HDD support and the longest warranty possible. I've found it all in this enclosure. It's great it goes with relatively large magnetic screw driver, 2 thick high-speed USB cables with velcro band and a silicon sleeve. But some cons I've found:0. No max HDD size specified.1. It's not obvious if the HDD is fully inserted and engaged with SATA connector. I had to disassemble it back to troubleshoot why Windows can't see the disk. And I had to take the risk pushing disk harder towards the SATA port. Fortunately it worked.2. Plastic subframe makes squeaky noise during the insertion to aluminum case. But it's not a big deal.3. Big deal: for some reason their USB C-C cable doesn't work well with thunderbolt port in my laptop. Connection interrupts from time to time and my disk just dissappears from system. I suspect it could be excessive power supplied to the disk from both wall PSU and thunderbolt port, but the PCBA inside enclosure should handle that... OR it could be loose engagement and contact inside thunderbolt port of my laptop which I use pretty often. Because there is no such issue with USB C-A cable.4. Wall PSU looks so ancient today. 2 thunderbolt ports could supply 15Wx2=30W of power. Which looks enough for 3.5" HDD. It would be so great if any company could offer that!5. Looks pricey against other plastic Chinese products... I'd personnaly be happy with ~$40 price.6. Some information is missed in papers inside the box.

Helped Quiet a Noisy Hard Drive!
I got a new X300 Toshiba 8GB hard drive. Put it in an Orico tool-free all-plastic case, and realized it was unreasonably noisy. It really rattled around inside that plastic. But it is for a raspberry Pi NAS that I'll stick in a closet or somewhere, so I don't have to hear it. Also I didn't feel particularly safe about this hard drive not crashing at some point in the simple plastic Orico case, which serves a purpose but has no real drop protection at all, not even rubber retainers inside. I ordered this Novus thing, which is the only rubberized 3.5 enclosure I could find. Anywhere. I'm really impressed with how it cuts down on the noise, which is a bonus I wasn't shooting for when I ordered the enclosure. I guess the fact it is anchored in with screws to a metal case which is enclosed in a thick silicone rubber shell is why the noise-causing vibrations are muffled. I also like that it has USB-C to USB-C for newer hardware and another USB cable for other setups like my raspberry pi. Peak transfer rates using a high quality USB-C cable to a Macbook were great. (See lower right quadrant of the Black Magic Disk Speed test). I shall order another one of these fine rubber monstrosities.
