Description
Product Description A young woman lapdances in a nude bar, but aspires to become a glitzy showgirl. .com When Goldie Hawn recommended Elizabeth Berkley for a small role in First Wives Club, she publicly stated that Berkley deserved the opportunity to redeem herself after starring in the ridiculous Showgirls. That says it all: this sleazy, stupid movie, which mixes soft pornography with the clichés of backstage dramas, is the kind of project an aspiring actress would have to put well behind her to keep a career going (though costar Gina Gershon certainly benefited from her, uh, exposure in the film). Berkley plays a drifter who hitches a ride to Las Vegas, becomes a lap dancer and then a performer, and discovers--gasp!--there's a whole world of sex and violence involved with these things. Gershon is probably the best element in the film, playing Berkley's bisexual rival for the big spotlight on stage. Joe Eszterhas was well overpaid for writing this howler, and director Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct) should have known better than to take it seriously. --Tom Keogh

Set Contains: If you don't need the variety of trinkets included in the 2004 Showgirls V.I.P. Edition, the 2007 Fully Exposed Edition is exactly the same DVD as the one in that boxed set, from the art on the disc to the trailer gallery featuring DVDs released in 2004. And so the cut of the movie and all the special features are the same, including the commentary track by David Schmader, who gained fame for hosting an "annotated" version of the movie (think Mystery Science Theater 3000). The track is subtitled "The Greatest Movie Ever Made," and Schmader explains himself thus: "Showgirls triumphs in that every single person involved in the making of the film, from the writers, actors, gaffers, every single one of them is making the worst possible decision at every possible time, and it's this incredible density of failure that makes Showgirls sublime." (He make an exception for Gina Gershon.) He wittily discusses the recurring "chips 'n' nails" motif and what Nomie's dancing reminds him of. Also included are behind-the-scenes footage, a pop-up trivia track, and some real-life showgirls offering tips on how to perform a lap dance and their take on the movie's lapdance scene. --David Horiuchi See more

Best Worst Movie of all Time!
First of all, I would like to start with a brief view of Showgirls. This movie is a total classic in my eyes. Back in 1995, it was supposed to be taken as a serious drama that showed the seedier side of being a showgirl in Las Vegas. When told that his movie was given the infamous NC-17 rating, director Paul Verhoeven said it stayed as is so not to compromise his vision. Whether it was because of this "vision" or not, the movie was universally panned by critics and audiences alike. It wasn't until about 10 years later that it started to get the notoriety that it has today. Thanks in large part to VH1's digitized bras version, Showgirls reached a much larger audience since it was able to be broadcasted on standard cable. Today it is probably our most current camp classic. Now, this particular box set is simply amazing. No longer are we looking at this movie for it's dramatic purpose. Well, maybe we are, but only because it's so bad it's good and has given us such classic quotes as "I'm a dancer!" and "I'm getting a little old for that whorey look." This box set knows it and gives you a set of shot glasses, drinking games, a poster of Nomi (topless) and pasties to play "pin the pastie on the showgirl." With these props, you are able to enjoy Showgirls the way it has grown to be excepted, drinking game and camp comedy. There are honestly times that I pull out the box set just to show people what is inside. For those who have seen the movie, they beam giggles and appreciate its camp. Others who haven't seen it just marvel in it's splendor and almost universally say they need to watch it at some point. One suggestion, watch Showgirls before you buy this set. Obviously I am a fan of this gem, but it isn't for everyone. If you fall in love with trainwreck of a movie the way I have, this box set is for you!

A fun and sexy musical ride, for pure escapism enjoyment!!!
I love this film so much. From the very first day that it was released in theatres, I was on it. I love dancing, I love Vegas Showgirls and I love sexy women who have no problem showing their power. This film has all of that and more. It is so easy to get lost in and sucked into. Just turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream. Its dazzling Showgirl production numbers, along with its over the top storytelling and very sexy star, Elizabeth Berkeley (in a very underrated role she gave her all to) will have you mesmurized throughout the film, if you just let the elements take you. Also, don't underscore the music, which does a great job of pulling you into the film further. All of the elements in this well-made production were very thought out and meticulously edited and presented here for maximum enjoyment value. Pure escapist joy of a film. Don't let the naysayers disway you. They are just embarrassed by the more taboo subject matter. Just relax, turn up the 5.1 and go for a fun thrilled ride!!!I have just one question: On Amazon, the regular DVD says the running time is 128 minutes and so does the VIP version. But the Fully Exposed Edition says 131 minutes, yet other reviewers say there is no difference in any of the DVD presentations other than extra features. I wonder if that is the case.Anyway, get this film. If you love movie escapism, and after all isn't that what movies are about, this movie will not disappoint you. Just have an open mind and enjoy it for what it is, a fun, thrilling, sexy, musical joy ride!!!I am a professional writer and publisher: S.O.S. ~ Songs Of Sobriety ~ A Personal Journey Of Recovery

Possibly the worst movie ever made
With that headline you're probably wondering "why the 5 star review?" Check my other movie reviews and you'll quickly realize that I love terrible cheesy movies! This one is probably top 5 for me. I bought it because I always wanted to see Elizabeth Berkley naked. On that level, this movie delivers big time. Full frontal and she's not shy about where her legs go. As far as the "story" goes it's totally pointless and flat. The "acting" is beyond terrible but in a way that will leave you scratching your head and wondering how the hell the director decided that any of the takes were "print" worthy. I found myself admiring the acting skill displayed on "Saved by the Bell" if that puts it in perspective. The best part by far is the alleged choreography. OMG, it's ridiculous!! I wanted to shove a wallet in Elizabeth Berkley's mouth to keep her from biting her tongue off with her spasmodic writhing. Seriously looked like she was having a seizure. Pure gold! The "sex" scenes were equally disturbing and phony. So many examples of one-liners that left me both confused and laughing. All in all awful work on everyone's part but WELL worth the price of the DVD. Just be sure you have a thick buzz on before you hit play. Enjoy!

Fast shipping and excellent packaging. The Leatherman tool feels very premium and sturdy.
