Worth the money
This is an awesome tool to have when other options fail. I run wires for work and it has paid for itself in the time it has saved me on only a couple jobs. Being able to pull wires directly to the hole on tricky runs is a life saver. The magnespot works through concrete walls so you can ensure you’re drilling in the right location on the first try. Yes it’s very expensive but if you pull a lot of wires it’s worth it.

Expensive, but worth it!
In my last house, I ran an ethernet port to a closet to extend wifi. I didn't have this tool.In my new house, I ran 8 ethernet ports to two different floors. The MagnaPull made it so easy to get the cable into the outlet. I even did a few without help. No more yelling, "just a little further, no... more to the left." Just drop the chain in, and find it with the roller and roll it right out the outlet hole. Brilliant. DO BE CAREFUL. MAGNET IS VERY STRONG.The MagnaSpot was great also. I was able to go into the crawlspace and find the exact spot to drill the cable hole to come up into the wall. It senses where the signal is and I can find both sides of the wall and come up in between. BRILLIANT!This is expensive, but I'm so happy I bought both pieces. I hope I never have to cable without it.NOTE: I used it for a wood-frame building. It can work with metal frame buildings according to the manual. I believe it could work, but you have to make sure the magnet doesn't hit the fame and stick there.

Why it says for professional use only....
Why the warnings: The magnet is very strong and could easily mess with your credit cards, computer equipment, cell phones, pace maker, etc. Running wires through one's walls and drilling holes through blind spots is inherently risky and should really only be done by someone who knows typical building codes as to where electrical wiring may be installed / hiding, where plumbing pipes may be installed, etc, and has done their due diligence. If not, you run serious risk of electrocution, damaging existing wiring, drilling through plumbing pipes (has your place had a re-pipe?), drilling through exterior walls, etc. Legally only do this work if you know what you are doing, own your place, have some common sense and a bit of knowledge of where everything is in it and are willing to deal with the consequences. Yes, this is a good kit for what it does. Minor quibbles (longer jack chain, etc), but overall does its job very well.

Works great!
Works great as intended. As always there's an issue with fire blocks, insulation, corners or something that requires more than just this tool. That's just life. It has saved me many hours and reduced the swear words immensely.

Works well for home remodels and appliance installs
Works well when installing new wiring and moving old wiring. Works perfectly when venting dryers, range hoods and bathroom fans. Easy to use with very accurate holes on roofs, siding or floors. Worth the investment if you have a remodel that is not a complete tear out and have to run wires , cables or vents with out destroying the existing drywall. Pricy but pays for itself in first use IMHO.

Honest Review
This package contains two different tools “the magnaspot & the magnapull” that have performed at different levels of expectation and hopefully this will help guide someone’s future buying decision.First the Magnaspot- This tool is used to locate potential drill site holes. It’s fairly accurate and has a great deal of penetration through materials like wood, brick, and even stone. It’s very sensitive and starts indicating from at least 4 feet away. It is fairly noisy when indicating but this can be turned off with a few button pushes. The one thing that’s frustrating is the beeping. It takes some time to hit the one button operation to silence the device when using it. Additional buttons for power and a silenced mode should be adopted in a future upgrade. The current one button feature for power and sound is a bit of a pain.Magnepull- A great product in concept but not so much in execution. While the magnet is fairly strong it can only really penetrate drywall. If you have a sheer wall behind that drywall it flat out will not work. On top of that you normally have other studs in most walls that make this tool only useful for a very specific application. Plus insulation will stop this thing dead in its tracks. I’m not sure how you would improve this product to be honest as again I’ve yet to come across an application where this tool saved me time or money. The box- Why would you put super strong magnetic tools in a steel carrying case? I really have no idea. The magnets are always sticking to it and really it’s a hazard and pinch point. A plastic case for these type of tools is a no brainer. Plus being a metal case the paint is already scratched up from job sites and transporting it around.Overall:Magnaspot gets 4 stars.Magnapull gets 1 star. The carrying case 2 stars.
