Perhaps the best in it's class.
A very nice balance of high/low light levels for a single AAA flashlight and the FL1 specs ARE what Nite Ize tells you they are. The overall size is a bit larger than than the Maglite Solitaire but the quality of fit and finish is vastly superior. I had a lot of trouble with the LED Solitaire screw cap moving in my pocket, turning on in my pocket, etc. and eventually just not making proper contact and being a dysfunctional flashlight. You will not have that problem with this product. The screw cap is extremely stiff as is the end cap button, thus making them far less(essentially immune) prone to turning on when you don't want them to.I have not owned any Fenix units so I can't compare but this is easily a much better EDC keychain light than the maglite LED solitaire. I'm not sure there's anything else out there, streamlight or otherwise, that is this good in this small of a package. I would never hesitate to buy another flashlight from the Inova line.

Not for pupil response
If you are planning on using this for checking pupil response, don't waste your money. It is awkward to hold and turn on in the low mode. To use the low mode you must depress and hold the button. The always on feature only pertains to the high mode.

Powerful Little Light. Hard to Operate One-Handed
This is a really neat little light, that is exceptionally built. The feel of the light in your hand is very sturdy and durable. It is very tiny for a single AAA light, which is nice, and the included clip is nice, but is too small for constant daily use, at least for me. I ended up clipping a D-ring into the clip and hanging that from a belt loop, which worked fine. The only grip on the light is at the very rear, where the cap is that you have to twist in order to operate the light. When it is clipped onto something, it makes two handed operation necessary, which is a drawback for me, since I typically need to use a light in tight spaces and don't always have two hands free. If the light is in your hand with the tail towards your thumb, it is possible to turn it between your thumb and pointer finger, but the cap is also very tight and difficult to turn, making one handed operation limited to those with strong fingers. If the cap is tight enough, you are able to push the tail in slightly to get it to come on, but that is also difficult and requires quite a bit of strength for more than a few seconds of light. I tend to prefer simpler lights with a twisty at the forward end of the light, such as the Klarus Mi02 or the Fenix E01, which both have significantly less output, and don't have multiple modes, but they can be quickly turned on and off with one hand.EDIT 10-6-15 photo added to show D-ring added, flashlight next to an AA battery to show how small it is. With the D-ring on it, it is a bit lengthy, but long enough so that it could be hung on a belt loop and tucked into a pocket securely, yet not so long that it gets in the way if you let it hang loosely. If hung permanently on something, like a bag, the included clip would work, it's just difficult to easily attach/detach if you frequently need to remove it for use.10-10-15: added photo of multiple lights to show just how small this one is.

This is a nicely made flashlight
This is a nicely made flashlight. It is fairly bright. Only real problem is the button on back is really hard to press, but I usually just turn the end for it to stay on while using it.

While this does seem like a sturdy unit, it's just not for me.
I am in the market for an everyday carry flashlight. This seemed like the logical choice because it uses a single normal sized AAA battery, is small, brighter than cheaper flashlights; but most importantly it has a tailcap switch. I already own a more powerful aluminum LED flashlight, and being able to activate the light with one hand just feels more ergonomic with the tailcap switch. Judging from the picture and the description, I figured the keyword 'switch' meant click on-click off; as does one of those capless pens so you don't hold the button down. The description for this flashlight was deceptive. To keep the light in continuous mode, you need to screw in the tailcap all the way. This in turn defeats the button, and to turn off, you must unscrew as to cut the circuit. Being the small size it is (about the size of a AA battery), it is really awkward to have to keep holding down the BUTTON. Not only that, the button is really stiff; maybe about 15 pounds required from the thumb to depress and activate the circuit. I ended up returning the unit in hopes they will update the description to say "momentary" switch, or redesign the flashlight with a proper tailcap. If you buy one and like it, no judgement. This just isn't for me.I am still in the market for a very small and powerful everyday carry LED flashlight with a proper click-on click-off type tailcap switch, so if anyone has a recommendation, leave a comment.

Awesome little flashlight!
I have purchased these before but the store stopped carrying them. Lucky for me I found them on AMAZON, and for a few bucks LESS than I paid before! These are GREAT little lights! I bought several of them and they are awesome. SO light weight, you never even know it's in your pocket. The low beam us what you will use most to save the battery, but the high beam is very bright for such a tiny light. Great EDC ( every day carry ) backup light. I have used these for a couple of years and never had a problem with any of them. I sorta wish the tail cap switch was a "click on and click off" instead of just a momentary on ( you basically just twist the light for constant on, once for high, twice for low ), but at least it never accidentally gets turned on in your pocket like my Surefire. Love the little lanyard also. Once you get one of these awesome little lights, you will buy more for your spouse, kids, and friends.....I know what I'll be giving for Christmas stocking stuffers this year...
