This eye mask (or eye bra, as my hubby refers) absolutely works at blocking out light. I tried it on outside in the sunlight, just to test it and no light got in. It felt soft to the touch and seemed to fit my face well. Even though in the pic it looks like it doesn't fit well and light would seep through, the contouring padding underneath prevents light from entering. So, if you need a mask that blocks all light and want to use it to sleep on a plane/train, use it for meditation, or sleep in your bed on your back, then this mask it the one to buy. But, if you are like me and sleep on your side, you might want to reconsider. Do you have thick cheekbones? If so, it might not be comfortable for side sleeping. I was so excited about the light blocking feature and softness to the touch, and was sure I was in for an awesome night of sleep. But, having it on for only a few minutes, I could not handle the pressure on my cheekbone while sidelying, no matter how I moved the mask. I couldn't sleep in it. If I pushed it up too high, then light would seep in. But Amazon's return policy makes returning items so easy, you don't even need a box! So, if you think this mask might work, but are unsure, TRY IT. It may fit your face differently than mine.

My wife reads late into the night so I need some dark to fall asleep. This is the third thing I have tried and the best so far.

This is a great mask for naps and migraines, both of which are a part of my life. When I have a migraine, I don't want any pressure on my eyes and very little pressure on my head, and I can't stand light. This mask is the perfect solution, as you can forget you're wearing it and it doesn't even touch your eyelashes (most of the time). I can sleep on my back or my side with these with little issue, as long as I adjust the mask after moving to keep the light out. When I fall asleep with the mask on, I almost always wake up with it off, but that doesn't bother me at that point because I'm already awake. I move around a lot when I'm asleep.My only complaint is that the strap could use some kind of padding. That elastic band can put some pressure on your ears and make them a little sore because there isn't anything there to soften the edges. This seems like something the manufacturer can easily fix the next time they update the design. Overall, I'm so glad I bought this.

This is my second pair like this. I bought these to replace my flat cheapies that I traveled with. These are so comfortable and do a great job of blocking the light. Yes, if you turn a bit during the night, they will likely need to be slightly readjusted, but it's not a big deal. The better sleep makes up for it.

This new and improved mask does indeed have a larger and more comfortable "dome" over each eye, and the nose fit is much closer and more substantial, so no light leaks in at all. The key is that it is still as comfortable and durable as the original, which I have used for well over a year with no delamination. I ordered two, one for my wife, and one for me. I will use the old one till it wears out, but my wife wants to start using this new one right away because she really likes it! Great product and good value. Much better than others I have tried and an improvement over the old ones, even though they are good, too!

I have chronic migraines & if you've ever had one, you'd know that light is your worst enemy during an attack. Daytime with a migraine can be a challenge. But this eye mask has changed all that. Instead of having to wrap a bulky towel around my head & eyes, I just put this eye mask on & it blocks out ALL light! It's soft, fits perfectly with the help of the velcro straps & the design keeps it from pinching my nose. My only recommendation is that after you choose the right strap length & circumference of your head, cut off the excess strap. Sometimes it can bunch up at the back of your head as you're laying on it during sleep & cause a really sore spot on your scalp. Other than that, which is fixable, it's awesome!!

Bought this for travel use, as I daily commute to NYC. The design is okay at best due to it not being able to completely block light, especially where the part meets the nose. Also, the velcro strap often touches upper part of my ears which gives unpleasant discomfort. Not thrilled overall and I would recommend to spend a bit more and get a better and comfortable mask.

Does the job! I like that it has the extra eye room. Not the most portable, since the foam texture will crease. Has a small gapping around the nose, but I feel like that will always be a problem. Well worth it and happy with my sleep mask. It really does help when the morning sun creeps in or I need to nap on the beach.
