Power only on one port at a time.

I'm using this switch to try to connect to some Unifi wireless access points (AP-AC-LITE) which support 802.3af just like this switch. The first device to be connected powers on fine, but I cannot then plug the second device in. Nothing happens.I've already had the switch replaced once thinking maybe I had a faulty unit but I may need to send the replacement back too.I'm reaching out to both Unifi and Dlink to see if I can establish what the problem is but it's not looking good for the switch. I'll update here if I find a solution.Update: reducing to one star as a third replacement from D-Link exhibits the same problem. Would be better off with a standard 8-port switch and a couple of PoE injectors.

Wish I'd bought one sooner

I've never had a wired setup in my life, and have always used WiFi, and I really wish I had done this a long time ago. Setting up was super easy. I bought a pack of 1 meter lan cables to go with it, and hooked up all my devices in my entertainment unit (xbox, PS4, PC) along with a longer cable for laptops etc. I ran a long cable through my floor to the router downstairs, and switched everything on, and it just all works! I used to get 10meg over my WiFi, but now I get the full 60meg speed. It's absolutely crazy. Pings have dropped down to next to nothing. I'm so happy I finally upgraded to wired. This was really easy to set up and it's made such a difference. Looks good too on my black unit.

Works fine

Our home has some built in ethernet but in a few places there is a concentaion of equipment and we needed some extra local ethernet points. We use these in a few places (studio, lounge and home office) and they link back to a central switch and to the router, they are small and tuck out of the way and have two keyhole shaped screw mounting holes makoing them easy to position (the lounge is free standing behind the DVD player, studio is on the wall where the photo editing section is, and the office mounted under the desk). I get full speed when transferring data from my PC to the NAS (which are on different switches) and this is frequently while streaming HD movied across different connections.Installation is simple, connect power, connect to your router, wall point or whatever and then plug in whatever needs connecting - no setup or anything.

Excellent quality plug and play.

Really happy with this switch.I couldn't be bothered to run extra cables to my living room so bought this instead. You really can't complain about a d link gigabit switch for under £20.I appreciated the fact it was made of metal- it feels really solid. There's only likely to be one item running though it at once, but it is handling high bitrate hd video and audio without problem - I've every confidence it'll perform at it's full spec without a hitch.I'm not sure why it's asking me to review the wifi signal capabilities - this device has nothing to do with wifi.Anyway. Highly recommended !

Excellent Simple Solution

I bought this based on other positive Amazon reviews, the purpose being to make more sense of the cabling in my lounge.I currently have my Billion BiPAC 7800DXL router connected to: Billion BiPAC 7800DXL Triple WAN Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit ADSL2+/Fibre 3G/4G LTE Broadband Router with USB Port Smart TVXBOXSteam LinkPowerline ExtenderAs a result all the ports on the router were used so no room for expansion and at times i noticed the transfer speeds to become a little sluggish especially with all the other wifi devices that were connected to it. So as it was on offer during the Black Friday sales i took a chance. It arrived next day via Prime delivery. I purchased the metal version which feels incredibly sturdy, it can be wall mounted if you wish. Set up is as simple as plugging one cable from the router to the switch and then everything else to the switch directly. Plug in the standard wall wart PSU that comes with it and let it do the rest. The cables i used are: CSL - 5 x 0.5m CAT.6 Flat Ethernet Gigabit Lan Network Cable (RJ45) | 10/100/1000Mbit/s | Patch cable / broadband cable | compatible with CAT.5 / CAT.5e / CAT.7 | black Since installation i have overall noticed a much smoother connection on all devices, so happy with the upgrade. I am no expert in terms of networking but for my purpose it suits me perfectly.

Unmanaged Gigabit PoE plug 'n Play goodness

Purchased as a Black Friday amazon warehouse deal to help expand my home network and I needed PoE to power my Grandstream VoIP phone too.It required NO setup configuration, I just plugged the "Incoming" data CAT6 ethernet cable into the far right port (number 8), plugged the VoIP phone into one of the yellow marked "PoE" port to power it and plugged the 3 PC's in the home office into the non-PoE gigabit ports... and everything worked out of the box.The VoIP phone only runs at 100 megabit, so the port light for that one flickers orange, the rest all give me full 1000mbps throughput... now I just need to upgrade my broadband package again to take advantage of the bandwidth!--Alec

Beware may not be new

Purchased two of these switches. One arrived packaged and sealed normallyThe second had the outer seal broken on it, when opened the adapter had clearly been uncurled and then stuffed back into the box, the mounting kit is missing and the switch itself had been removed and again stuffed back into the plastic packaging with clear fingerprint smudges on the case.Clearly it was not brand new and was likely a return or possible even refurbished modelWorse yet it was a direct supply from Amazon not a 3rd party seller.

Quality, hassle free switch

This is the second D-Link DGS-108/B switch I bought, having had first for a trouble free 6 months.Essentially it just works as expected, hassle free, no issues with bandwidth, using Cat6/Cat7 cable I get full gigabit in between devices in the house as well as from outside (910/110 FTTP).Switch is very well made and doesn't get hot - I can easily recommend it!
