warning don't buy used in this book!
Made the mistake of buying this book used. When you purchase this book there is a code in the back to give you access to all of the download files. When I went to peachpit to access them, it said it had already been used and so I have a book that I can't access the files to do the examples. I tried doing online searches to see if I could just find the files somewhere else but nope-no go. So I pretty much threw away my money. Save yourself the headache, either buy new or don't bother.

Love Adobe Classroom in a Books!
I really have loved my experience with Classroom in a Book from Adobe, and will recommend these for any of their products especially for beginners. They do such a great job of walking you through all the basics, not leaving out any steps which is essential for a beginner. The last thing you want is for a book or tutorial to skip small steps, assuming you should already know how to do them, and these books definitely do not skip details and how-to's. I love how they arrange chapters by different types of projects so you can read just what you need/ want, or all of it! Each time a step is needed, it tells you exactly how to perform the step so that you don't have to go back through the book to remember how something was done.

Great tutorial
Okay, I admit that I am a beginner in post processing. Now that I shoot RAW for creative purposes, I get to improve some otherwise flat looking images, turning them into fabulous. Well, I never knew any of the terminology used in Photo Shop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, and the like. Now that Adobe has made Photoshop more affordable with their simple 2 app (Ps & Lr) for $10 a month, I jumped at the chance to learn from scratch. This Classroom in a Book is a great step by step intro to all of the aspects Ps has to offer. I know longer fear playing with my photos.

Just what I needed
I've been a self-taught Photoshop user ever since CS2, and the Classroom in a book series has been my go-to. Upgrading to the cloud from CS4, there were just enough changes that I needed a boost to feel confident using the program. It's a great starting place for the beginning user, and super review for an upgrader like myself. Of course it doesn't cover every little detail, but this along with online tutorials seems to fill the bill.

It's a Classroom
I am taking an online course, but I needed something written that would be easy to follow. This book is divided into chapters that allow the learner to learn step by step. Each chapter begins with an overview and an estimate of how long it will take to complete. There are plenty of illustrations and marginal notes. The chapters end with review questions and answers. Anyone who wants to learn Photoshop CC will find this book useful.

Clear and concise lessons
I'm actually enjoying the lessons. I was somewhat familiar PS Elements and decided to take it to the next level with CC Photoshop. I like the kindle version because It makes it easy to have my iPad set up next to my computer for reference. I think that even if you're new to PS this book is easy enough to use.

Good book for this beginner
Bought the ebook to learn the basics of Photoshop. I don't have any experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud tools nor do I have a graphic design background. My first goal is to learn to do basic adjustments to my photos. So far the book has been very helpful. The instructions are clear and structured well. Instead of explaining all the ways a task can be done, which are often many in Photoshop, the book guides you along revealing new ways as you progress. Chapter length is good. Being able to complete a chapter in an hour provides a sense of progress .

Offers solid learning, but at slow pace
I would have liked to have given 3.5 stars. My comment is on the Classroom series. Not this specific Photoshop CC book, although I don't expect it to vary. My tech college class on web graphics just finished with Illustrator and now moves to Photoshop. I've had Classroom books on other apps in the past.If you are brand new to an application, the Classroom books will guide and protect. They will make absolutely sure you don't get left behind, or wander down the wrong path. The will tell you over and over not to go down the wrong paths. Repeat basics over and over. IOW, a snail would grow impatient at the pace.My vote says the series needs a much more efficient structure for presenting its information. Perhaps something like an accordion structure. The fresh content and the steps to pursue it could be always visible. If the student had a problem, they could click to bring up a review of getting started steps. If they wanted more detail, they could click to open more detail. If they've forgotten how to handle the lesson files, they could click for instructions. As it is, you will learn. But IMO you will need patience...

Each unit is very easy to follow and the supplied passcode for digitally downloading ...
Firstly, this is not the first product I have purchased in the 'Classroom in a book', series. I have to say, if you are new user or a relative beginner to Photoshop, this is a must have, goto book. The fact that it produced by Adobe, the creators of Photoshop, shows that the authors really do know what they are talking/writing about. The book itself is laid out in easy-to-use topics or units giving a guide to topics such as Getting to know the User Interface of the software, Layers, Basic Photo Corrections and Advanced Compositing. Each unit is very easy to follow and the supplied passcode for digitally downloading the lesson files from Peachpit Press really adds substance and reassurance to the lessons. You can really see how you are progressing and the lesson files include examples of what your finished workflow should look like. (I found this extremely useful and reassuring). One of the benefits of the Peachpit downloads is that you can check back from time-to-time and any amendments to the book or lesson files are provided free of charge, as well as the lessons being available to re-download. (Just in case you accidentally delete any).If there is one downside to this book it is that Adobe constantly update their software if you have a Photography plan via the Creative Cloud. Although this is a good thing to have new features, sometimes this can mean you may have to do a little searching to find the feature you are looking for when following the lessons. The feature will however be there and will just need finding. (The search/help feature will help here). One section that I did find difficult to follow was the 'Working with 3D Images'. This takes some getting used to and I need to return to it when I had a bit more experience of using Photoshop. This however, would certainly not put me off buying any other 'Classroom in a Book' series publications, as overall it was excellent and I felt I learnt so much from this book. I no longer feel that I am tinkering with the software but certainly feel like an intermediate user. Forget the rest, buy the best!
This is a fantastic product that is written impeccably and is so easy to follow. Obviously, the Adobe Creative Team know their product inside out, but they give you the feeling that they want you to enjoy all its benefits as much as they do. This is THE definitive guide to Adobe Photoshop; don't bother buying any others, or subscribing to the many magazines that are available - they just do not compare! Believe me, I've tried them!!!! This is the only guide that I have 1. Enjoyed following, as I can see my progress. 2. Followed all the way through. 3. Started again from front to back as I enjoyed the process!!!In depth coverage of all of the aspects of this vast programme, that you can complete at your leisure. Be warned, time will disappear once you open the cover!!

Photoshop CC
I felt I need to upgrade from the CS6 version as the software has changed in many areas. As I now have a Kindle this was a cheaper option. There are some new exercises and some of the old ones still remain. I recommend this book for anyone starting out with Photoshop CC.
