Tiny and creative solution!
My Sony VAIO has the 2 USB ports located on the right side, closer to the front near the user, so when I plug in the USB adapter for the wireless mouse, the adapter sticks out, and get in my way of using the mouse (someone didn't think very clearly when he/she designed this). I was happy to find this solution from Kensington. I had hoped that the Kensington Bluetooth Adapter would go further in, completely flushed with the side of the laptop, but the adapter still sticks out about 1/2 inch (just like one of the pictures shown above)The Sony VAIO has VISTA so i let the built-in bluetooth driver do all the work (didn't need to install anything from the enclosed CD). I'm a non-techie, and it took me just a few minutes to get things up and running. I'm also happy to find that the Kensington Bluetooth PilotMouse (mfg #72414) also works with Vista, eventhough the packaging materials indicate that it only supports Winðows XP.One thing to caution is that the edges of the Kensington adapter (the part that is sticking out) are quite sharp, so I already got scratched several times. I'll continue to look for another product with better and safer design, and once I find it, I will retire this Kensington adapter to be used with my desktop (where I plug the adapter in the back of my computer)I have not tested the bluetooth adapter with listening to music, or talking on the phone. I've only used it for the mouse, and the mouse seems very resonsive.Other than that, I'm very satisfied with Amazon; I chose 2-day delivery (placed the order on 6/9) but ended up receiving the product on 6/10. Thank you Amazon.

Excellent- Does it's job- glad I found it
I had previously bought a CSR dongle which was a 'throw in' with a cheap Terax bluetooth mouse I bought on EBay. The 'throw in' should have been 'thrown out'. Ha. I wound up returning this combo as it performed inconsistently despite trying different drivers. Now this Kensington Dongle is a winner. Despite several reviews I read warning about Win 7 incompatibility it (at least now) included a CD containing Toshiba Bluetooth Stack Version 7.00.05. Despite a lengthy install on my 5 and 1/2 year-old Dell Inspiron B130 now running Windows 7 Home Premium, it otherwise performs great. There are no driver warnings of any kind. I also don't have any yellow exclamation marks in Control Panel as I did with BlueSoleil.I paired it with a Dell PU705 Bluetooth Laser Mouse (sent the Terax one back) and my Verizon Wireless Samsung Reality (SCH-U820). The Toshiba stack gives you much more functionality than the Windows 7 stack and outperformed the Bluesoleil software I had previously tried. I actually like the software. File transfers to and from my phone are much faster than BlueSoleil. Windows 7 didn't allow me to transfer files from my phone to the computer. Toshiba's software does. The bluetooth functionality of the computer using this dongle now compares similarly to my newer Dell XPS 1640 laptop which has a built-in bluetooth card. In fact, I have the same mouse with the XPS computer with the built-in bluetooth and they perform identically.

Eh - works but.....
I owned a large sized kensington blue tooth dongle, but smash it against a wall while toting my laptop. So I figured I'd get a low profile and since this was kensington too, I figured yay same feature set....NOPE! I dont seem to have the ability to do FTP with my cell phone like I did before with the larger size. Now it is possible that it could be my cell phone as it is also new, but clearly send/receive is supported so this is related to the software in my opinion. FTP should at the very least be mimicked, but isnt so I cannot transfer multiple files easily, but rather one at a time. Ok just tried it with my old cell phone. Nope, it doesnt seem to support FTP transfer. Oh and it says it supports personal area network, but not sure that it does. Says it connects to my old cell in that way and then check status and it is disconnected. What is it that these low profile dont support network access services like their larger brethern? Bummer!

Works when it wants to!
Bought this for a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Using Windows 7. No issues on the install or anything like that. Usually the software that came with it recognizes my keyboard and mouse pretty easily - but sometimes it does't.My mouse always stays connected but it likes to drop my keyboard at least once a day. So I changed batteries in the keyboard, same issue. So I changed keyboards (brand and manufacturer) same issue. Actually, sometimes it goes into "keyboard overload" and repeats a key a million times until you unplug the adapter! (It has done this with BOTH keyboards.)I tried everything - even a new computer! Same issues. This thing is solid on the mouse is why I give it three stars, but keyboards (IMHO) it doesn't like. I even tried placing the adapter right next to the keyboards - no go.pros:Rock solid with mouseCons:Will occasionally: drop keyboard and have to manually reconnect or it may go into an endless loop with keysOverall - buy it if you are using a mouse - look elsewhere for keyboard.

Wonderful Product
So far I've only own 2 bluetooth usb devices and this one is the better one. The other one was a Rocketfish model RF-FLBTAD and that one was so bad I wanted to hammer it. I didn't have any problems with this Kensington device. Software was good. Connecting to bluetooth devices was easy and it didn't have disconnection issues like the other one. I was able to connect 4 Wii controllers with no issues. I didn't notice any sync issues unlike Rocketfish. I've only tried it with Wii controllers and that's what I only use it for so I don't know how it works with other devices like keyboards, mouse, headsets, and etc.I had it negative 1 star only because I haven't test anything else besides Wii controllers so I wouldn't know the compatibilities of other device. Also it didn't come with auto sync button or anything and had to manually connect devices so that was a minus.

Worth that little bit extra.
I wished to connect to some new bluetooth speakers from my linux laptop. I tried with another £1 bluetooth USB dongle I already had, this proved it works technically but it gave nothing but grief. Drop outs, not always connecting etc.So gave this a punt as it was still quite a reasonable price. Just plugged it in and it worked without the previous issues and without (for me) any software amendments. So obviously a superior product. Has a flashing blue light to prove it's alive, is that good?FYI comes with a Windows CD to install it if required, and as such quite a big parcel for something the size of a thumbnail.

As useful as it is small
i bought this to use with a goldtouch mouse at work. Getting it to work with my work laptop took around 30 mins, but that would be because of our build and peculiarities with USB ports. Worked right away with my windows 10 personal laptop. Delivery was super fast, arriving the day after order placement.

DOES THIS DEVICE WORK FOR OTHER PEOPLE?
I am sorry to say that, as far as I am concerned, this device has been a total waste of money, however cheap the item was. It hasn't worked on my Toshiba Equium P300 laptop (running on Windows Vista), since I bought it about 3 weeks ago, even after Tech. Support got involved. It is still plugged in, but there is ZERO response. It will not read or recognise incoming Blootooth signals of any sort. I mainly wanted it for my mobile 'phone, because it had photographs I wanted to transfer into the laptop. Joe S-M, Manchester, UK.

I feel that if I weren't good with computer software and custom driver downloads and compatibility
I feel that if I weren't good with computer software and custom driver downloads and compatibility, I would have struggled a huge amount to get this thing up and running on Windows. It does, however, work perfectly once connected and installed!

Bluetooth adaptor
It worked immediately after being connected via USB.This performed as expected. I have nothing to compare it to, to know whether it is better or worse than any other bluetooth adaptor. However, I can certainly recommend it.
