Great Amp Bypass Harness- 2004 IS300
Great Bypass Harness, 2004 Lexus IS300. Lots of extra wire. Some leads were unused.Lots of install tips/hints around the web, but always miss some technical details. There are many ways to go about this install. Verify all connections before powering the system.Double din Pioneer touch using the built-in amp. No subwoofer. Removed the factory amp. Installed aftermarket rear 6x9 speakers (will need brackets), using the factory rear connectors.PSA- Solder and heat-shrink or crimp connectors. Don't burn your car down with poor wiring.Do NOT use the factory Toyota rear speakers- You can/will fry your Head Unit internal amp.*Metra Bypass Harness*1. Radio connector- did not use the blue wire. Straight forward.2. Amp connector- Striped yellow, striped brown, striped green, stripped red wires unused.I used the factory rear connectors (The striped wires that went to the woofer section). This means the METRA harness needed the Rear Right Leads (PURPLES) re-pinned to where the yellow and brown wires were.Sounds Excellent, everything works.

Worked great in a 2002 Camry LE
Thankfully, this allowed us to bypass the weak JBL amp that's installed at the factory. Any new stereo/radio will NOT work unless this factory amp is by-passed.In the 02 Camry the factory amp is tucked in the footwell panel underneath the glove compartment.Simply:(1) unplugged the old amp (2) plug this matching harness in it's place, (3) trim the really lengthy wiring provided as needed (4) then attach to your color-coded new radio harness!Voila! you have a much better stereo/radio than the stock unit-- a pain to circumvent the factory amp, but this harness did the trick!

Great kit, instructions could be more thorough.
Pretty much what this title says. I used this to bypass the factory amplifier on my 2006 Toyota Higlander Hybrid Limited with the factory JBL system. This kit comes with all the attachments and plenty of wire, and even comes with a radio adapter harness, although I didn't use it nor do I recommend you use that part. It's simply not needed, and is missing key connections like antenna wires and illumination wires. It's basically just 12V, switched, ground and remote. The instructions suck. There's practically none, so i would recommend leaving this to the pros unless you understand how to read factory wiring diagrams and have a background in audio to avoid digging yourself a hole. I found more comprehensive instructions off of metra's website, but the fact I had to go looking for it felt a little sloppy on metra's end.Now if Amazon could actually send me the correct amp so I can put a 5-channel amplifier in there and run some subs...

Third time's a charm!
This was the third and final wiring harness I bought to install a new stereo in my 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited. This one worked and I'm finally done. I'll give you a brief overview of the mistakes I made to spare you the same pain.Wiring Harness #1: Metra 70-1761. This wiring harness would be used to install a new stereo in this model Toyota without a premium JBL sound system. Unfortunately, I have a premium JBL sound system (you can tell by the "JBL" stickers on the door speakers). The connections are completely different.Wiring Harness #2: Metra 70-8113. This allows the new stereo to plug into the existing connections and runs the signal through the factory-installed JBL amplifier. Unfortunately, this results in a horrible sound. The radio was OK I guess, but bluetooth and other audio inputs were distorted almost beyond recognition.Wiring Harness #3: Metra 70-8116 (this one). After the debacle with wiring harness #2, I decided to bypass the factory JBL amp altogether. This harness does this. Be aware! You will need to run the wires from the new stereo in the dash all the way to to the rear of the Highlander to connect to the speaker wires which used to be plugged into the JBL amp (located under the jack storage tray). This involves lots of popping out interior panels, but it can be done by an amateur (me). This harness comes with 17' of wire and I needed almost all of it.One other thing - you need a separate wiring harness to connect the steering wheel controls to the new radio. I used a Metra Axxess ASWC-1 wiring harness. It took a little trial and error: "Connect the wires to pins 6, 7, & 8 of the existing plug" - which existing plug? There are four of them! But in the end I got it to work.God Luck!

Works great, but no illumination wire
I used this on an 02 Highlander to bypass the factory JBL amp, which was causing lots of background noise and alternator whine when paired with an aftermarket stereo. It worked perfectly to resolve that issue, and had plenty of length to go all the way to behind the back seat where the amp sits. This kit comes with two harnesses. One short one connects to the factory connector in the dash. This has your 12v constant, 12v accessory, and ground. And there's a very long harness for all your speaker connections that runs all the way to the factory amp, which in my case is behind the passenger seat. One issue I had was the smaller of the 2 harnesses does not include an orange illumination wire. This is the wire that triggers your stereo to dim at night when the headlights turn on. You'll either have to splice a wire from your radio to the factory wire, or if you've got an old standard metra 78-113 harness (which I did have because this radio was replacing another aftermarket radio), you can use that harness for this purpose. The longer harness with all the speakers wires is very thick. It contains 12 wires: 8 for your 4 speaker connections, and 4 are unused. Since I was routing this through panels and raceways, I cut off the 4 extraneous wires to make the thing smaller in diameter. I also recommend taping all the wires up so they're easier to route through everything.
