A2 Models of Dualshocks are Prone to Analog Drag
I purchased this controller to have an extra whenever I play multiplayer games like CoD or Little Big Planet. I've only used it a few times because I usually just use my main controller for games and leave this one on the dock with the others. About a month later when I used it to play a game and I noticed that a slight nudge of the left analog stick, my character onscreen would start moving left and would just keep moving left. After some searching online I found that this problem was called Analog Drag/Drift. I couldn't return it, so I decided to purchase another one. Unfortunately, months later of using the new one, it also fell victim to analog drag. My older Dualshock 3s (that are years old) still work perfectly. Even the controller I got with my PS3 back in 2009 still work fine. Just an FYI, the A2 models are the newest models of Dualshock 3s that have released. I may have just gotten lemons and you may or may not have this happen to your controllers but this is just something I want to write about in this review.

Thumb grips will melt and get sticky over time
I bought this back in 2010. This was an official controller from Sony Playstation fulfilled by Amazon. IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS NOW. So the controller is STILL working just perfect and fine. Very responsive, I have no issues with it. Charges perfect still, no lag. Very solid controller. Now the issue is, in time the thumb grips on the joysticks (L3 & R3) will become SUPER STICKY. I tried washing and cleaning it but it's an issue with the thumb grips deteriorating with time. It's been 10 years, no helping it. So it's a bit sticky and nasty feeling these days.EASY FIX THOUGH. I bought a bunch of those thumb grip stick covers (i got the ones with cute cat paw designs on it), shoved that on and it's like brand new. And now it's super cute because of the cat paw designs. :)

Beware: Possibly fake controller sold by Amazon.
This controller is not OEM, altho claimed so and sold as by Amazon. In the attached pic, the black controller on the left is OEM and the blue one on the right is what I bought from Amazon.I bought the blue colored one a little more than a year ago from Amazon. It always felt a little different than my original controller, but it worked so I paid it no attention. A few weeks ago, the left analog stick began sticking. When I looked closer, I saw the plastic around the stick had chipped ( I dont know how as it is a weird place for it to get damaged, even via a fall). I took the controller apart to fix it, and also another broken (OEM) controller to see if I could switch out parts. That is when I discovered it as a fake. On the inside, the components and case are completely different than the OEM one, and not even remotely switchable. I also discovered the sticker on the back is different. Even the case is a lot more flimsy. All this came to light only because the controller broke so easily.I am past the return date, so I am putting this out for potential buyers. Pay close attention to how the controller looks and feels. Examine the product sticker on the back to make sure it is not a fake.

Sony's New A2 Models Feel Cheap
Son't has decreased in quality in recent models. I bought a new Dualshock 3 and the plastic feels light and cheap. There are many versions of the Dualshock 3. Here are mine and my experiences with them:-Original controller that came with the ps3 fat (Model no. Unknown): Solid and reliable-Model no. CECHZC2U: Solid and reliable-Model no. CECHZC2UA2: This is the version you will get if you order right now. It is cheap and analog sticks feel completely wrong. Aim is immediately impacted. Very tough to aim on FPS games. I noticed immediately and had to lower my sensitivity. Also, buttons feel very stiff and protrude to the point of discomfort. Buttons are issues I can overlook and this is a small gripe. The sensitivity is the main issue.I also want to note that I ordered directly from Amazon LLC. I went to Gamestop and compared it to an A2 model controller there. Sony is just getting cheap and this is not a fake.Other models that I have not used:-CECHZC2UA1-CECHZC2UB1My recommendation is to go to Gamestop and purchase a used controller! Really, it is that bad now. If the used controller has broken or worn down thumbsticks, they are really easy to replace.A side note: the Dualshock 4 works with the ps3. It is the most comfortable controller I have ever felt. The problem is that the PS button, rumble, and motion don't work. Also, R2 and L2 buttons give a binary (on/off) input so you cannot feather the gas on driving games. Obviously, none of the new features on it (speaker/touchpad) work with the ps3 either. Finally, it is only compatible with certain games. It is the ultimate controller, but I had to return mine because I needed the PS button and motion. I couldn't get over those.

Don't get colored controllers! They break super fast!
I've gone through a couple color controllers. I had a red one. Broke within a few days of using it. I had this blue one and I exchanged it once. So that's two blue, one red. They've all broken in the exact same place. The plastic around the left thumb-stick is significantly weaker on these. Probably on the whole controller, but this is where I've seen it. And it's always the same exact spot. When holding the controller, it's the area to the bottom-left on the ring around the left thumb-stick. It starts to cave in. Once this happens, the thumb-stick will start to stick in the top-right position, opposite where the visible damage is.I'm 0/3 on these colored controllers. I know they're made poorly and cheaply and I wish I just got a black or white one from the beginning. I have had the black controller since I got my PS3 back in November and it holds up fine. When I exchanged my red one, I got a white one for it, which I've had for three or four months now too. No issues whatsoever on the black or white. The red and blue ones that I've had all had the same exact problem. The worst part is I waited until after the return policy to look into it. I know it's under warranty, so I will contact Sony about getting a replacement. But save yourself the trouble. Get a black or white controller. I can't speak to any of the other colors - some of them might be fine - but I know the black and the white ones are built much better than the red or blue.

FONY not SONY but works....so far
Got this today and can confirm this is NOT an official Sony product. When attempting to pair to my Mac it advertised itself as "PLAYSTATION(R)3 Conteroller" so either Sony spellcheck is not working or this is a knock-off.Having said that, it does actually work with my MacBook Pro (once a couple of files have been edited)I've only given this 3 stars for now, because I haven't had chance to fully test it yet. I may come back and update later.

Not a bad fake. Ad is decieving.
This review is about the brand new white controller. It is 100% NOT a genuine Sony controller. The buttons have the wrong feel, graphics are different or missing, the analog sticks aren’t the same shape and don’t have that smooth feeling to them. There is no rear serial sticker. This is what I noticed in the first 5 minutes after it came out of the plain white box it came in. The ad and pictures on amazon ARE NOT this controller. It’s a very good knock off and that’s not what I was ordering. If the ad says it’s a Sony, shows it in Sony packaging and the pictures show it just like a real Sony PS3 controller I expect a real Sony controller.Having a hard time getting it to connect unless it’s plugged in charging.I will be returning it because I don’t expect the quality to last like an original.I attached pictures of the purchased white controller with a blue Sony controller as a comparison.
