Name brand, and way cheaper than I could buy one for locally.
So happy with this purchase. A NEW Bosch alternator for less than the price of a re-manned! WOWWorks perfectly on our ranch workhorse 2002 X5 with the M54 engine. Been driving it for about 6 months post DIY install and all is well on the battery front!

Counterfeit Bosch. Do not buy. Spend the extra money and buy OE
I bought this Bosch sticking with the OE design alternator. The alternator doesn’t put out enough voltage to charge my BMW 530 battery. It arrived on May18, I installed the alternator the same day. but only getting 12.7 volts to the battery.I also noticed that there is no Bosch stamp on the alternator like the original one.

Best price ona NEW Bosch alternator
Worked perfect on my 2002 e46......factory alternator was a Valeo---this Bosch bolted up AND connected electrically with NO Modifications....once you get the fan clutch & shroud removed very straight forward IMO....I'm a retired auto tech and repair shop owner but this should be easy for most DIYers.....

So far so good
Just finished installing this on the 2002 BMW E39. BMW makes it hard to get to the alternator but after installing it problem with battery not charging was solved.

This was an OEM part that was fairly simple to change out. New part is working well and appears to have resolved electrical issues I was seeing due to battery voltage dropping!
