Elegantly Simple
This U-bolt system is well engineered and elegantly simple once it is installed. Kryptonite provides the tools you need, however we needed a different drill bit for a pilot hole. It is important to watch a video before beginning work. Having a vacuum cleaner handy is essential to clear out the debris from the hole due to the tight tolerances. The fun part is hammering in the ball bearings at the end!

Wicked . . . tough. Bad Ass
solid As Heck. Had to buy a mason hammer drill to drill into my 85 year old concrete pad but this thing is in there SOLID. I think the only way this thing is getting moved is when they hook a chain to it and pull the concrete pad out from under my house (so they can build a mcmansion in it's place.)

Bike is safe!
Tweakers steal every bike here in town. Jerks. I love my bike and I have no indoor room to store it.So I bought this + a kryptonite chain. NOT easy to install. I had to hire a handyman and it took him a whole hour of loud drilling to install it. But my bike has been locked up outside for a month now, in a parking area that is easy to see, and where other bikes have been stolen. It hasn't even been touched! Thieves take one look and go away. I'm thrilled to finally have control over who gets to keep my bike!

Not the easiest install...
I wanted to get the kids' bikes to a more accessible location for them to be able to grab them and go instead of sorting through the garage, so set up an outdoor / side-of-the-house bike parking location.Despite there being similar locking solutions from Abus and Hiplok, I chose this Kryptonite because of the price and because it seemed to be an all-inclusive solution.I'm not disappointed with this product, but I'll just point out this minor detail: drilling concrete can not always be done with precision, and you may notice that even in Kryptonite's own installation video, they don't disguise the fact that they mis-drilled their mounting holes (it's plainly evident that the permanent marker marking is not where the bolt is).In my case I was expecting this, but what I didn't expect was the amount of spalling around the hole. This is 10 year old truck-delivered concrete in good condition, not some suspicious hand mix, so just a heads up.Also recognize that the base plate can not be used as a drilling guide, only as a marking template. The head of the masonry bit to too large to fit through the holes of the base plate to "force guidance" of the hole.So grab a smaller bit (1/8" or 3/16") and drill a pilot hole for each large hole.Lastly, I only drilled two holes and used two bolts to mount this shackle in my out-of-the-way residential location.Functionally, this mount is fine. I expect that it will last a good long while but will eventually succumb to rust, but probably not until the kids are grown up and moved out (but hopefully still riding their bikes).

Perfect for my needs
This baby will not come out if installed properly. Using this to attach to chain to hold my generator during peer outages. They give you the drill bit but not one for a pilot hole. Instructions are good, well detailed and make the installation easy. I anchored into concrete and used an sds plus ryobi drill, 18v and it went through the concrete like butter. The anchors are fine. Would use again if needed. Believe me, it's not coming out of the concrete.

Ground Anchor package missing masonry bit
The Kryptonite Ground Anchor is advertised it comes with two masonry drill bits. Product picture shows two masonry drill bits of the same size (5/8"). One regular 5/8" masonry drill bit and one 5/8" SDS rotary hammer masonry drill bit. I purchased two Kryptonite Ground Anchors. Both were missing the 5/8" SDS rotary hammer masonry drill bit. I sent the manufacturer a message. Hopefully the missing SDS masonry drill bits will be provided. 3-17-25 Update - The manufacturer did respond quickly and shipped me two more 5/8" masonry drill bits. Unfortunately, neither one was a SDS masonry bit which my drill uses. Both appear to be of a better quality than the regular masonry drill bit included in the store packages. Pre-drilling with a much smaller masonry bit (example 1/4" or 5/16") is worth the investment to increase the accuracy of centering each of the 4 holes. Rebar in the concrete can cause you bit to drift off center and make your hole too large. Luckily, I did not hit any rebar, and all 4 holes matched up. I used a piece of painter tape to mark my drill bit. Both my Kryptonite Ground Anchors are securely mounted to my concrete floor. A thief will have to deal with two anchors and chains.

Great Ground Anchor
Very heavy duty, all hardware was provided included the concrete drill bit. Although it is good they provide a drill bit, it is very low quality. I was able to drill one hole without problem but the bit stopped cutting half way through the second hole.Save yourself some frustration, get a good 5/8" and 3/8" concrete drill bit. Use the 3/8" to drill a pilot hole before using the 5/8" bit. Be sure to follow the instructions and drill the holes exactly as deep as the directions indicate. The last important tip, be sure to vacuum the concrete dust from the hole before using the 5/8" bit. Take you time and your anchor will be securely bolted to the concrete floor.
