I can't imagine it being more perfect, easily worth double it's cost, lightweight, great finish, perfect height, 100% solid zero
First off, I have built more AR's than I should be wiling to admit on the internet. It took a long to figure out what works, what doesn't and what isn't needed. I love my AR's because although they are notably similar, they are all remarkably different, excluding the fact that if it has some kind of magnified optic, than it also has some kind of Nikon holding it secure. I use the M series mounts for anything greater than 9x in general, P-series for smaller or "tactical" optics and although I do not have any custom milled uppers that need the XR, I hope to soon put in on the Mosin Nagant's tapped receiver rail. I have more than 5 different brands of "forged" upper receivers, Nikon scopes have fit them all, albeit a couple very tight requiring a rubber mallet(honestly that's how I like it, TIGHT!!!). The tightest fit was a YHM, easy on for Cerro and whoever PSA uses, also very tight on an Omni AR15(not sure who forges their uppers, but still fits), I have others from random companies although I suspect similar forges. If you have a "machined billet" upper, you will need to either measure your rail or contact the manufacturer for specifics. Most of us use forged receivers and they generally closely follow that universal standard for rail sizes, it can vary some depending in finish, but most forged rails measure between 0.827-0.0833. I have used Nikon mounts on rails up to 0.838 and it was very snug, but not awful, so I can only make an assumption that anything over probably 0.842 is going to either damage you finish considerably or not fit at all without hand-fitting the interior of the bases. You can't lame Nikon if your machined receiver isn't in spec. So if you have a higher end billet upper, please measure and buy the XR-series if needed, the XR attaches using a slip of mount from both sides for larger rails. The reason I stick with Nikon only nowadays is because I got really tires of pricey mounts that couldn't be bothered to flush fit their mounting screws. Burris P.E.P.R. is one of these, and although it does seem to hold tight, it's annoying, gets in the way of other attachments or covers, snags and is just visually unappealing. The only mount I have seen that's in a similar price range to the Nikon and uses flush mounting screws is the "AR Stoner One-Piece mount", although I have not personally used this mount, I like the design and should be able to fit pretty much any rail that's at least close to spec, but it doesn't put the scope as high as the Nikon's. Anyway, I would recommend Nikon to everyone and no one should have a complaint about the price, these are lifetime solid mounts and are worth double their cost. The finish is top-notch, the height is PERFECT for AR15 type firearms and they have never sustained any damage despite me moving them around from rifle to rifle for the last 4 years, my first has almost ten thousand rounds under the mount and it still looks new. I like Nikon scopes okay, for the price it's hard to beat, but if I am honest and willing to spout blasphemy.....I actually can't tell a real-world difference between them and the Bushnell AR optic series. The Bushnell AR scopes all work well with these mounts, I will re-iterate, P-series for small scopes 9x and under, M-series for longer scopes over 10X and the XR series for longer scopes that have a billet rail that measures wider than the standard. if you end up like I did, and buy a scope that just barely doesn't clear your P-series, I have a pic below of simple fitting to make do with an inappropriate sized scope. be safe....here are some pics.....not the p-series works on pretty much any small and even "tactical" scopes. use the M on Nikon traditional scopes as well as the Bushnell AR 14x and 4.5-18x and it's a great fit and clears the handle.

Great fitment, good price, well aligned, seems to have good quality- used on P-223 3x9
Purchased the M-223 mount for the Nikon P-223 3x9 scope. I am extremely happy with this product. It looks good on the gun, giving the necessary clearance without going sky high or adding risers. Well aligned and fit great.I chose this mount over the P-223 mount because I liked the 1 piece construction, I don't have to worry as much about a ring shifting or it getting out of alignment, it seems more error-proof to me. The product appears to be well made and when I checked the alignment of the rings with a "Wheeler Engineering Scope Mounting Kit" (borrowed from a friend and most likely completely unnecessary for this job). The rings looked perfectly aligned and the tiny amount of lapping I did revealed little to no high-points.I had no issue installing it on the rail but it was a minimal clearance fit (what you should want from a 1 piece construction).*NOTE* the people that said it did not fit most likely were dealing with temperature variations, i.e. the scope mount just got brought in from outside and maybe it was cold (so it will have contracted). Or just got back from shooting so the gun is still warm (expanded). Or maybe they just didn't take the screws out before sliding it on- hard to say but there is probably an easy solution.Overall I am very happy with this mount and would purchase it again.

Great scope mount. No problems mounting it.
The Nikon M-223 is a sturdy mount designed for AR platforms, easy to install and affordable compared to other manufacturers' similar products. I now have several of these mounts (XR and non-XR models) so I can rapidly change scopes based on the type of shooting I plan to do (e.g. low mag scope for short range or high magnification scope for long range shooting. There are major differences between the XR model and the non-XR model: The XR has 3 parts that must be aligned properly: the right side base, the left side base and the center of the base. These are secured to the Picatinney rail with 3 Allen bolts. The non-XR model is a one piece base with two Allen bolts. I did notice that the XR mount is a bit more difficult to install than the non XR model since it has 3 parts that must be aligned properly. I was a bit mystified when I could not adjust the scope to shoot on the target. It was consistently shooting to the right of the target. I finally loosened then retightened the XR mount and was able to zero the scope. I did not have that problem with the non-XR model.

Solid, Simple, and Effective
For full disclosure I must admit that I sent this mount back, but not because of anything wrong with the mount or the price. In all, I found the construction to be top-notch (though I prefer 4 bolts on the scope clamping ring not two and a quick-disconnect locking system). The problematic thing for me was that these mounts put the scope really high for my rifle (Savage Model 11). That said, these are clearly made for an AR platform so you shouldn't have any issues if that's the way you are going; however, if you're looking to put these on a bolt-action you'll going to be much higher than even most extra-high sets of rings on the market. For me, I was at about 1.8" to the center of the Nikon M-223 with a 42mm lense a full .5" higher than the set of Talley rings these were to replace. Seems the best way to go with this scope (M-223 4-16x42) and most bolt action rifles (that is if you want to stay as close to the barrel as possible while maintaining the versatility of changing out the scope from platform to platform) is the 20MOA picatinny and a set of QD rings from your favorite manufacturer. Hope this helps if you're in the same spot I was in, trying to find the perfect set-up.
