It Works - If You Know What It's Used For
This is a five-star product, if you use it as intended. I've been looking at all of the different reviews, and noticed something. When many of the reviewers describe their experience with this product, they're often talking about applications that would have been better suited for another Ortho product. So what exactly is this product used for?GroundClear Year Long is specifically used for spot treatments of weeds around hardscapes. In other words, not for spraying a large area of your yard. But to catch the weeds growing through the cracks in concrete, brick, under your deck, in your driveway, in parking lots, right along the fence, and in gravel areas. And not all weeds. Is this product right for you?If you're not doing spot treatments around hardscapes, probably not. Trying to get rid of dandelions, crabgrass? Get WeedClear North. Want to kill clover, but leave your St. Augustine lawn unaffected? Then you want WeedClear South. You know what weight motor oil to buy for your car or truck. You know what color clothes to wash with bleach, and which ones you don't. You know what goes with Jack, Crown, Jameson, Makers Mark, and what doesn't go with it. My point being, not all Ortho products are created equal. Some are ideal for certain lawns, some for hardscapes, some for specific types of weeds. Groundclear Year Long is not meant to be a one-and-done for all weed types, or conditions. So if you ordered it, used it, and wonder why you still have growth... You basically brought a fifth of Tennessee whiskey and a jug of skim milk to the party, and get surprised no one's enjoying the mixed drinks. It works. I'll upload photos when Amazon allows pictures in the reviews again (they limited the review staff and picture options with everything going on right now). We have weeds and unwanted stuff growing in and around a slab next to one of the houses on our land. I picked a day when the sun was high, the temp was over 80, hadn't rained for a couple of days and wasn't going to rain for a few more days. Timing, heat, sun, dryness all make a difference in how well the treatment works. This is as easy to use as any other battery operated spray, and the spray reaches far enough that you don't need to get super close to use it. I sprayed the areas that needed it, along the edges and coming through cracks in the slab itself. The Ortho claim is that it works within an about an hour. And it does. Now, it's not going to be shriveled up and dead in just one hour, this isn't agent orange. But you'll see super obvious wilting and discoloring in just an hour, as long as you do it on a warm day when the sun is out, and it hasn't just rained. You'll also know within a few hours which weeds aren't affected by this spray in particular (which is why you do your homework in advance and figure out which weeds go with which sprays). I snapped photos before I sprayed, and I took more pictures 24 hours later. You'll see the difference when I upload them. Were there any stragglers? Yep, and I knew in advance that there would be. This would be a good way to determine which solution to switch to later, particularly for the hardscapes in this area.GroundClear Year Long is a five-star product, if you're using it as intended, where intended. If you buy it for any other reason than hardscapes, if you didn't check which types of vegetation it kills, giving it less than five stars doesn't make sense. If you're thinking about getting it, and it seems like it will meet your needs, then get it. Otherwise, take a few minutes to just glance at the related products on this page, and figure out if another Ortho product would be better. Either way, definitely go with Ortho.

Junk
Don't waste your time adding this to water. I added 16 ounces to 1 gal and sprayed weeds in my driveway and 2 small mulchbed. Nothing happened. Waited 3 days added about 20 more ounce (about half of the bottle to 1 gal of water) . Still hasn't killed anything. The only thing I noticed was that mushrooms started popping up. Which means this stuff is garbage. Its changing the ph levels of the lawn but not actually doing anything to kill weeds. Save your time and money. Get something else!!! I've been a landscaper for 14 years so I may know a little bit about this. I also worked for trugreen.

didn't kill anything
I got this after a lot of researching to try and kill some ivy and poison ivy around my fence, and some grass around my mailbox and driveway. After reading the directions I diluted the ground clear where it was a little strong to be sure to get rid of everything. I sprayed a day after a decent rainfall as it instructed and after several hours it looked like it was going to work, but a few days pass and nothing is dead. I sprayed everything a second time (again with a more concentrated mix in my pump sprayer) a few days pass and still nothing has died. It didn't kill grass in a driveway, weeds in peagravel, or ivy growing around a fence. It has now been more than a week after the second soaking of the plants and they are just as healthy as ever. This product did absolutely nothing which shocked me because I have used ground clear before with great results. I would not recommend this to anyone

I tried many...Ortho Groundclear still the best!
I don't know why this stuff is so good. Some sort of secret Ortho sauce. I have tried so many other brands and potions on Amazon, and this is still the champ. I always see results in 24 hours...and it does keep it clear for the season. I live in a desert-ish climate, so maybe the lack of humidity magnifies its power for me, but this is a great product. I have to buy multiples and use a backpack sprayer. My only point of dissatisfaction is the lack of availability of the concentrate version at the time of this writing. The concentrate can produce 5 gallons of solution for near the same price. But the product itself - 5 stars all the way!

Missing applicator wand
Received the item with no way to apply. I purchased the item with the comfort wand but only received the bottle with no applicator.

Useless junk IF you're hoping to kill a large area of weeds.
Useless junk IF you're hoping to kill an area of weeds such as 2 feet by 4 feet tall grass and persistent and resilient (strong) weeds. This MIGHT be good to kill tiny weak weeds cropping up between sidewalk cracks and other simple and small areas, but as a true "KILLER," this junk can't even kill an ant. There is NO POISON in this stuff because our society has outlawed or banned the use of truly strong killing chemicals which now force you to pay a professional killer to come with his certifications and credentials that provide him (or her) with the authority to purchase the REAL DEAL in weed killing chemicals which you and I are prevented from having access to. I poured two whole bottles (nearly 3 gallons!) of this junk over an area 2' x 4' of tall stubborn weeds and this stuff didn't do ANYTHING!!! What a waste of $50! I eventually bought a $30 rake and physically removed the weeds by brute force resulting in a couple callouses but the weeds are now gone (and so is a lot of topsoil and garbage).
