Built in obsolescence.
I received this item as a gift. At first it was all great and worked flawlessly. On the 53rd week of ownership, itstarted to work sporadically. The battery started to swell up. I removed the battery and tried to use it just being plugged in to the wall. It would work for about 30 - 60 minutes and then it shuts off. Have to re-boot it. I think their batteries are a fire hazard. The battery gets dangerously hot when it is charging. I am thinking of sending the battery to the Consumer Product Safety Commission for evaluation.The only thing I can say is the Franklin Wireless engineers did an excellent job of designing the unit to fail immediately after the warranty expires.

I tried several times to get it activated an all locations have said it's out dated am can not be used any longer.
