Excellent quiet fan for moderate PC usage, yet NOT intuitive installation
Once I installed this CPU cooler (with the 1 fan that was packaged with the cooler), it runs well, and keeps my PC a little cooler than the stock Intel cooler for i7-4790k CPU on an 1150 z97 type motherboard. The stock cooler (which was for a non-K version of the same CPU) was quieter (nearly silent), yet the Enermax ETS-T40 cooler is quiet, even at 75% CPU utilization. There is however a drawback of this cooler and that is the installation. Good news is the installation is fairly standard (common) and you need to screw on a backplate on the backside of the motherboard (which is very easy to do, provided your PC case backside cover can be removed by you).Bad news is the installation instructions do NOT indicate which side ("AMD" side or "Intel" side) of the CPU cooler's backplate to place on the motherboard. It took 2 tries to get this right since it's not intuitive if the AMD marked side or the Intel marked side should be facing you or facing the motherboard. The answer is: If your CPU is an Intel chip, then the "AMD" side of the cooler backplate needs to face you when the backplate is installed.

Nice and frosty
Old 212 Evo broke, needed a replacement that had 2 day shipping so I went with this. My old idle temps on a oc 4790k @ 4.6 was ~40c, this has me sitting a full 8c more frosty. Installation instructions were clear and easy for the most part, probably the most difficult part was attaching the fan but I figured it out. All in all, 5/7 would buy again.

Not for novices, and AMD users possibly avoid.
Full disclosure, I'm a novice when it comes to computer building, but still felt like I should post this.Bought this as a cheaper alternative to a corsair liquid cool unit I had go bad after 3 years. What a headache that turned out to be. Directions for setup were not very clear to me on what side of the plate to use between AMD/INTEL cpu setups. After working through videos and whatnot, computer started once, then stopped. Took it to my local computer store (Fry's, in this case) and they discovered the cooler crushed my cpu from the pressure it put upon it. The technician thought there was not enough room between the plate/motherboard/cpu. To be fair, I may have installed it a bit tight, but I was worried this mammoth heat-sink would be rattling around in my case. So for now my rig is down for the foreseeable future. I would not recommend this for novice users, and maybe AMD users should avoid it. I didn't get far enough to see how well it worked, so I csnnot attest to that.

Once you get it in, it works great.I have it cooling a Core i7-8700k and it's working like a champ.Getting it installed is actually a little bit of work. Not horrible, but definitely not a snap-in.

Great Cooler at a Great Price
This cooler is awesome. I have since replaced the fan it came with, with a better looking blue LED fan, but the cooler itself is really good. The instructions it comes with are sufficient enough to align yourself, and the brackets for the fan are tight enough to be stable and simple enough to make swapping fans easy. It also comes with some pretty decent thermal paste and some 3M pads to attach which negate any sort of wiggling that could occur if mounted loosely. It runs pretty quietly and is able to keep my i5 6600k at around or under 40 degrees under some heavy gaming load. Also, a friend and I compared temps since we have the same CPU's, and this cooler achieves almost exactly the same thermals as his Hyper 212 Evo, so this is definitely a great alternative.I highly recommend this to anyone shopping around for a good air cooler.

Great HSF
This is a great little HSF, using it on my 2600k 1.42v, 5ghz and single fan. Idles are 30c-35c and load temps are 70c which is not bad considering the voltage pumped into this, With ability to add another fan should lower temps. Got this for $25 shipped amazing deal. Easy to install. If you can get this on sale nice little cooler.
