Great Treacle to Make British Flapjack
This is great treacle to make real British flapjack-Prep time: 15 minCook Time: 20 minTotal: 35 min (plus cooling time)Ingredients• ½ cup butter (1 stick) cubed• ½ cup brown sugar packed (106 grams)• 5 Tbs Lyle’s golden syrup (113 grams)• 1 tsp vanilla (4.3 grams)• 2⅓ cups quick-cooking oats (224 grams)Instructions1. Preheat the oven to 3500F2. Grease an 8-inch square glass baking pan. Line bottom with parchment.3. Melt the cubed butter in a deep 12” skillet over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and add the brown sugar, syrup, and vanilla and cook briefly until the sugar is just dissolved and fluid. (Don’t worry it won’t be gritty after baking in the oven.) Remove from heat and whisk until there is no visible butter and the mixture resembles melted caramel.4. Add the oats and mix with a spatula until well coated.5. Spread evenly into the prepared pan and bake 15-20 minutes or until golden. (I bake for 18 minutes.)6. After 10 to 15 minutes use a pastry cutter to separate the flapjack from the sides of the pan. After 25 to 30 minutes use the pastry cutter to cut into 16 squares.Notes:• When melting the butter and sugar together cook over low heat. Higher heat can end up hard and taffy-like.• When baking, watch closely and remove from the oven when the edges are golden. Overcooking may result in a hard, crunchy flapjack.• For a crisper flapjack, use a shallower baking pan and bake at a higher temperature.• Calories = 2400 per batch, 150 per 2” square.

The Original
The real thing, unlike the plastic bottled version you can buy locally. (US)Golden Syrup - also known as "treacle", if you're looking for UK treacle.

YUMMY SWEET
Tasty sweet change from sugar or honey. Add a spoonful to breakfast cereal or baking. Spread on bread and butter. Top off morning chopped apple and oats with this yummy syrup and dash of whipping cream for a rich treat. An English pantry and kitchen staple for more than a hundred years. Give it a go, but beware of sticking a teaspoon in the can or dipping half an oatmeal cookie in is dangerous!

Leaking can - no refund
Very disappointed to receive a sticky mess from a leaking can. The lid was covered in a black goo. And now I find I can’t return it or exchange for a new can. Will not purchase again. If I could, I’d give negative 5 stars.

It’s the right order
Love the syrup. Unfortunately one can leaked, so the whole order was a mess and I didn’t get my money’s worth.

Sweetness Itself
If you are unsure what Golden Syrup is, here's what Wikipedia has to say:"Golden syrup is a pale treacle. It is a thick, amber-colored form of inverted sugar syrup, made in the process of refining sugar cane juice into sugar, or by treatment of a sugar solution with acid. It is used in a variety of baking recipes and desserts. It has an appearance similar to honey, and is often used as a substitute for people who do not eat honey. It can also be used as a substitute for corn syrup."Golden Syrup is just perfect for baking tasty desserts, such as Treacle Sponge, to put on pancakes, or for sweetening your morning oatmeal. And a little goes a long way. For further ideas see The Lyle's Golden Syrup Cookbook (Storecupboard series) . Golden syrup is vegetarian, gluten free, and free from artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. It's a great alternative to corn syrup (especially the high fructose variety) and sugar. As an Englishman living in the US I often find must-have products, such as Lyle's Golden Syrup, at Amazon.com. The challenge is finding the right product, in the right size, and at the right price, keeping in mind the cost of shipping. The product I'm reviewing here is two 454g tins for $16.95, and since it is sold by Amazon.com directly, is eligible for Amazon Prime's free shipping. This is a better deal than buying Lyles Golden Syrup 907gr -32fluid Ozs Tin Each since you end up paying $10.20 for the product and then $8.25 for shipping, for a total of $18.45. I also favor the two smaller tins since the one big tin can get a little sticky after extended use!Buy with confidence, you will not be disappointed. Recommended.

As Described from Seller
There was a mixup in delivery and I only received 1 tin (partial order). This was probably error in packaging in warehouse and Not the Seller. Product is great and will purchase again.

That so good
It’s really unfortunate that this isn’t available at the store anymore. It was easy and cheap to pick up when it was available at Walmart. Recently i have not been able to buy it anywhere except Amazon. It is really good and I use it as a spread on bread or cheese.

Thick Golden & Delicious!!!!
I truly love tins, so this makes a beautiful addition to my ongong kitchen collection, it's very eye appealing to say the very least.. Upon delivery, I was excited to try for my first time, Lyle Golden Syrup, as I have looked up on youtube and hearing about the quality and history, while I'm very satisfied to have found a better quality replacement for the corn syrup. Wow!! What an amazing taste...loving the thickness as I've always have...I'm very content, looking forward to baking with it, and enjoying a sneak sample daily as it's definitely a piece of Heaven.
