Before buying this, I called Rockler customer service as I have a smaller Delta saw and wanted to insure my miter slot to blade distance was going to be OK. He took the time to go into the warehouse and take measurements to insure that it would work on my saw. And I have quickly become spoiled. It makes the saw's miter obsolete and the drop-off makes the cuts so much safer, it makes the sled a zero clearance table.

I bought the Rockler crosscut sled and this drop off platform along with it. If you are useing the sled a drop off platform keeps your off cut from falling into the blade or getting kicked back at you. There really isn't much to it. A board the same thickness as their sled, a miter track bar, and a lock to keep it in a fixed position in the miter slot, but it works great.

If you have the table saw sled, this is a convenient way to make sure the support on the other side of the blade is the exact same height.

I'm happy that I purchased the drop off sled along with the miter sled. My rating reflects the fact that the sled could be much more useful if it had a means of installing a stop to allow repeatable cuts. I tried using the stop on the mitersled but it is not as effective in making cuts where the stock must be flipped over to make pie shaped pieces.

as a beginner at wood working I tried to make a this sled as it turned out I just was not able to get there it was not right. I wish I had bought this up front as it turns out I paid as much for the lumber I wasted as I did buying this one.
