... but that doesn't mean I love them all equally. More, I pity this one.It's kind of a middle child. It can't equal the surprise and wonder of the first. It could only hope for the last child's "only" status. Instead it just kind of lies between the two, neither starting a story line nor ending one.You can't blame a middle child for its birth, nor this for its place on the story arc. But, unlike many middle children, you could hope for this to have done better.-- wiredweird

Originally appearing in 1980, this album begins the 4-5 album story arc that ultimately reboots the series. Valerian and Laureline, tempo-spatial agents of the spacetime-policing organization Galaxity, are on different worlds investigating what seem to be unconnected incidents: Valerian employing brawn on Earth in the contemporary present, and Laureline using her brains on distant planets in the far reaches of space. Two apparently unconnected conspiracies begin to take shape in these apparently different places - what is the connection between powerful global corporations and stolen alien artifacts?The plot itself is OK as far as it goes, though nothing is resolved. The next album, Brooklyn Station Terminus Cosmos, is not really the end of the arc but does provide a sort of closure to this minicycle within it. However the series has lost the sense of fun and sly satire displayed in the previous adventures. Unfortunately Christin's attempt to mature the series comes at the expense of most of its spirit, which we won't see again until "The Circles of Power."

The first in a two-part series featuring our titular heroes. An unknown power has come to the planet Earth, seemingly to use the force of earth’s mythology to eventually destroy the planet. This is a fascinating story as it takes place between several planets and the scope of millions of years. While Valerian scours Earth’s past to find the mysterious powers, Laureline searches the future to see the handiwork of the power in effect. Both communicate through an unstable link via time and space. This is a great story, filled with fascinating art, and is a lot of fun. Can’t wait for part two.

Another Valerian filler book, waiting for the action to get going! Basically if they have the French bloke with the Hat in them they are fairly dull...

Qui abbiamo la versione britannica (se non leggete il francese) in formato kindle (le tavole si apprezzano meglio su un tablet grande e si possono zoomare) preso in offerta a meno di 2 euro. Se il genere vi piace, un affare.
