Phenomenal product!
It's pretty rare for me to be as impressed with a chance-purchase as I am with this one. We own a large-capacity cool-mist humidifier with a large, expensive filter/wick. For the past several winters I have had to replace this filter within 6 weeks of starting to use it otherwise the stench would get so bad I would get complaints from the family. No matter what I did the stench would build. I've tried several things and while I've had minimal success with this or that, nothing has kept the problem in check. I have wanted to put a touch of vinegar in the water but 1. Despite the fact my wife and I don't mind a mild smell of vinegar that would be just too much and 2. The filter instructions clearly say not to put vinegar in the water as that destroys the filter. I was fighting a losing battle...Until this Bacterialstat.I cannot believe how effective this product really is. Zero stink, the filter is lasting considerably longer than before - in fact I don't know how long it will last because I'm still using the one I started the season with and there is no problem with it. I turn the filter over every few tankfuls to help cut down on mineral buildup (very effective, BTW) and just can't get over the fact that there is no smell at all coming from this yet. I came back to Amazon to purchase another bottle as the first one is starting to get a little low and I refuse to be without the product - ever, again. Sunbeam, you nailed this one!Okay, I'm done - time to submit then go "Buy Again" this incredible product!

A must-have for filters that make it through the season
When Honeywell stopped making the high quality double filter for their cool mist humidifier I was pretty pissed. You are supposed to replace your filter every year (or more frequently if needed), but now they only make low quality filters that fall apart and fill with mildew within a week. Having resigned myself to the sub-par filters available for my humidifier, I started researching how to make them last longer than a week or two. At $17 a pop, I couldn't buy a new one every two weeks for the duration of Winter.I came across this product and it has worked great! I've been using the same filter for a few months now and there is still no bacteria, thanks to this solution. A bottle will probably last the whole season, but not much more. I will say that this solution does appear to leave some kind of sandy residue on the filter itself, but just soaking the filter in really hot water every few weeks rinses it right away and you are good to go.I'm still mad that I spent a bunch of money on a humidifier that the company no longer makes quality filters for, but so glad that I found this Bacteriostat Solution to help my crummy filters make it through the season without filling with bacteria.MOST DEFINITELY recommend.

Great stuff for regular winter humidifier users
Great stuff for regular winter humidifier users. Use it every fill, really seems to extend the life of the fairly expensive filters (possibly up to 2x), and definitely reduces the deposits and other junk in the reservoir when I clean it weekly.Interesting side note, I've been buying this for a few winters now, and it always calls for two cap fulls per 2 gallons. I can't be certain, but I swear this time they've made the cap twice as big in the latest bottle, which would be an interesting way to get people to use more without raising prices. Buyer beware I guess, although since my humidifier is 4 gallons per fill, I can just use 1 instead of 2 caps per full fill. Still, like this product a lot.

Worked fine
Surprised at how long this extended the life of my humidifier filters. Lasted maybe 6-7 weeks instead of 3-4.That's great during the winter months when filters for my humidifier cost $20... but during the summer months the filters sell for less than half that. I'd rather just stock up on the discounted filters instead of buying this stuff for more than the cost of a filter. I had to use most of the bottle in that 6-7 week time period.

If You Use a Humidifier, You HAVE to Buy This
A game changer for humidifier use.We used a humidifier during most of the winter because of forced hot air heating. Before we had used this it didn't take long for a filter to get musty and gross. With a cap full of this stuff at each fill up the filter lasted an entire winter without ever getting musty...even towards the end of the season when it's use is intermittent. The bottle is large and should last for multiple season. This is a no brainier, but this.

Only had this for few days. Heres my opinion so far...
For now I can only give it 3 stars, as I've only had the product I'm using it in for few days. From what I see so far, there isn't a bad odor from this product. I'm not seeing any build up or smells. It does leave the water in humidifier sudsy a little. Goes away once settled. I'll write an updated review, once I've had it for a few weeks. Quick shipping.

A must-have for console humidifiers.
Adding a few capfulls of this to the humidifier tanks every few weeks keeps the plastic clean and mold-free. I was amazed at how well it worked, restoring the white plastic to pure white, and de-hazing the clear bits. I like knowing that I can run my humidifier without it just slowly becoming a hub for mold and growth. This is so necessary, I almost wish humidifiers had a separate little reservoir to slowly drip it into the water, like how dishwashers have a reservoir for Jet Dry.

If you use one of those sponge/paper wick humidifiers, buy this.
I'm pretty sensitive to contaminated air... This really removes any musty odor.If I don't use it, after a few refills I'll start to notice a sort of "thickness" to the air coming out. This 100% fixes it, and you only use a tiny amount. I was using less than they suggest, often only using it during every other refill and I still had great results. The first bottle lasted about two years, keeping my house at around 45-50% during long and cold New England winters.
