Securus EZOOM1000 eZoom Personal GPS Locator (Requires Service Plan)

This is a great concept for potentially tracking lost/stolen items, keeping track of family members, etc.When asked to "track", a message is displayed suggesting it will take several seconds to a few minutes to find the device. The company is correct. It can take this long. When it is able to find the device, it is wonderful. It makes me confident that if I misplaced or had something stolen, and this device was "on board", I'd be able to find it within a very reasonable distance.There are two difficulties I've encountered in my early experience with it.First is that it inexplicably is unable to track the device at times that would seem simple. In fact, I was using the iPhone app to track the device, and the device could not be located. The device happened to be in my coat pocket, about a foot from my iPhone. This was not very confidence building. I suppose it is possible the iPhone app is the problem, and will test this more over time.Second, battery life is short. I'm constantly getting messages that the battery is running low and to charge the device immediately. So, I think in order for this to have any hope of tracking, it must be charged almost every day or every other day. This is not very confidence building with respect to locating a lost or stolen item. I have the sense that if I can't find it in a day or two, this device won't be any help. Perhaps I just received a defective unit. I will contact the company and ask.So, the long and short of is that I will continue to tuck the device into my laptop bag in the event the bag is somehow misplaced or stolen (visions of running after thieves at the airport....) as I know of no better way to recover such items (LoJack of course is useful, but not if the computer is turned off....)I would be hesitant to rely on this device in any kind of "fail-safe" fashion, for example with children, as this device is fallible.Perhaps as I use it more I will have additional favorable things to say.In conclusion, when it works, it does work, so I will not be relegating this to a desk drawer or garbage, and will not return it as I'm not aware of a similar product available that is better/more reliable. As a "last resort" for child, computer, luggage, etc, it just might be the only thing that comes through.

The company sold out to another company and did not transfer my full year of subscription so I was out an entire years worth at $179. Needless to say I was very angry and the new company wasnt even set up for service yet so even if I did want to take the loss of another anual subscription it would not be able to provide any service. Yet. Just an extortion business. Nothing but a rip off. And sadly I purchased 2 if these devises because the battery only last 3 days before the it needed to be recharged again. So it was easier to have a back up already charged & switch it out alternating the devices. It was a good product before they sold the company.

ezoom is out of service, new company doesn't respond, doesn't care about it. Do Not Buy !!!

We use these to track our fleet, it is a economical way for us to keep us with seven vehicles and not have a very large bill.

My EZoom GPS locator works exactly as I hoped it would. If my equipment leave my safespots I get an almost immediate text and two e-mails and I can begin to track it on a map with live satellite view right from my Samsung Galaxy phone. This device is perfect and worth every penny for peace of mind.

can not find how to log in to activate. ezoom is not the owner of this anymore, then the new company was bought out by another company. finally ended up at brickhouse security. was able to make a log in, but can not use it or activate. i do NOT recommend this product.
