SilpatThe Original Perfect Mini Loaf Mold

A working horse for my Banana Clouds (that's what we call the heavenly delightful banana breads I make in this mold). I've also repurposed many (but not all) 9" cakes and 9x5" loaf pan recipes for this mold without even changing recipe measures much. I admire the looks and functionality of individual serving loaves (see for yourself on photos).It bakes well (oven safe up to 480°F), but mind that it pretty much requires a perforated tray for good results. Silpat sells one separately and I'm not the biggest fan of it (it usually warps above 400°F, but can be straightened once cooled down), yet it helps so I use it for my under 400°F baking projects. Without a tray you would risk messing your recipe and may need to adjust baking times, and temperatures.The mold washes well (I do that soon after releasing slightly cooled baked products). Claimed to be dishwasher safe, but I chose to hand wash (requires some space to lay it flat in the sink to do this comfortably). I store the molds dried in their original packaging, stacking boxes flat upside down (as I have several molds akin to this).

We are big fans of Silpat products in our household and when we discovered the mini loaf pan - we purchased immediately for making mini banana bread loafs, which are perfect for our toddler. Genuine Silpats are so durable and long lasting. I've own the baking mats for 10+ years. We love that they are non-stick so we don't have to scrub a pan or need to use grease for any recipe. We have noticed that for some recipes we need to reduce the baking time for a few minutes when using these, but otherwise no issues!

I was skeptical at first at how well these would hold their shape unsupported in the oven. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how flexible yet firm they were. I ended up making mini cornbread loaves, using a muffin mix. And around the holidays used the mold to make peppermint loaves. I gave out as gifts. Overall love them!

This makes serving sizes so convenient and the lack of sticking and easy clean up make this a must have!

East to use and little cakes slip right out. Only negative (and it's slight) is that it needs to be stored in the box it comes with. So it might not be for the tiny kitchen.

Love how easy the bread comes out of the molds, how easy it is to clean. There was a slight learning curve for me since this is my first Silpat product, but love it! I have more of their products in my cart.

Food pops right out!

I wanted to try this with a meatball recipe, and make mini loaves rather than balls. It works best with ground meat with a low fat content. Try to leave a little room around the sides so fat does not bubble over. You can mound above the mold if you are confident of your binding ingredients. Maybe meatballs are easier.....Works fine for mini quiche creations, though. And of course it works for all kinds of baked goods. Allows for the production of an assortment of ingredient combinations. And it does brown whatever you put in them.It is easy enough to clean it up. But you do need to take care to maintain the shape of the compartments. And it does take up a lot of space in a drawer or cabinet. Unfortunately, you do need to keep the tray flat, and you cannot store it folded in half. And you can't cut through it to make a smaller mat. You will ruin it if you cut through the silicone sheet, as it contains fiberglass.
