Works great - sends two sound sources to Sound system
Works great. Sends audio to Sound system from TV and from a separate Bluetooth input. TV sound speakers resonates (rattles) rear metal panel of TV at certain low frequencies - disturbing. TV output sound diverted to separate sound system avoids use of TV speakers and provides clean audio to room. Sound level from both input devices (TV and Bluetooth) is reduced level because of impedance splitter in cable, but just need to turn up volume on Sound system to compensate. Much cheaper solution to bad speakers or resonance in TV.

Works Great
I use this cable to take two outputs (my Computer and my iPad) and have them both come through my headset by one input. It works great! The only drawback is that either the computer or the iPad will be louder, but not terribly so. I don't have any issues with the volume switching back and forth repeatedly, either. I can hear both audios just fine once I set the volume on each one where I want it. This seems to be a physics issue rather than a manufacturing error. Without some more technology added to it, I don't think you can avoid the difference in volume as it seems to be a product of the voltage output of each device that determines which one is louder. Overall, I really enjoy having this cable, and I can listen to my computer and iPad at the same time (especially when I am playing games or working and need to hear them both).

Works well for my purposes...
I had two retro computers and didn't want to keep switching one set of speakers. Works great for the price, but I only use one computer at time. (only one is ever on at the same time). This basic cable has no "audio mixer", so not sure the results of both devices outputting sound at the same time. Probably wouldn't go well, so I avoid it by leaving the other source turned off. If you want to blend two audio sources and/or separately adjust volume levels on one set of speakers you are better off with a proper 2 channel mixer. I noticed no audio quality degradation, but it's also hooked up to a 30 year old computer and small set of speakers - nothing hifi.

"Y" Cable Worked As Planned
"Y" cable worked as expected. I used it to feed two audio sources into one speaker system. Easy upgrade option. Would like to see shorter lengths for my application.

First Lousy Cable I've Had in a Long Time
Back in my Walkman days, headphone cables would ritually flake out. The cable would need to sit just right in the outlet, at a specific angle that, over time, became harder and harder to get right. This was thanks to the walkman banging around in a jacket pocket, and the cable bending or twisting with each step. That was 30 years ago, and I haven't had a bad headphone cable since. This one, though, is awful. It doesn't move, where I have it. It is plugged into a set of computer speakers, where the splitter provides access to a little boombox and my laptop. Just like with my 1980's walkman headphones, this one is just flaky. I can wiggle it around in my laptop jack and it crackles and pops. If it's not sitting perfectly, zero sound. When it's right, it's great.Bottom Line:Buy a different brand. This is the kind of item where almost everything you'll find comes from the same manufacturer, so they're probably all cheap trash. Make sure you can return whatever you buy.

Distance of cord may result in microphone failure
**Edit -- The seller contacted me with an offer for a refund, citing a 12 month warranty, but phrasing it in a way that suggested the warranty action would be based on my retracting my negative review. I'm choosing to view that as an error, so bumping them a star for offering the refund, however, I am disclosing that transaction here, as it could be viewed as tampering with the ratings.I purchased this item so that I could use my headset with my PC which requires the headset audio be split between microphone, and headphones. Technically, this product seems to work.. as best I can tell, as it doesn't work for me. I receive audio, which is high quality, however, I get no mic pickup at all.Through experimentation and observation, I have come to decide the problem is that the length of the cable is creating too much resistance, and the mic signal is not getting through. I also purchased a 6" splitter anticipating this might happen, and the 6" splitter works perfectly. In order to make this splitter work for me, I will need to augment the power either with a little inline amp, or by buying a headset which has a built in powered amp... either either solution would cost about the same as a wifi dongle headset a friend recommended.. making this cord effectively useless. With 3.5mm ends, I'm surprised the ratings are as high as they are, as it is quite common for 3.5mm devices to not have powered mics.

Convenient
Yes I really enjoyed the convenience of being able to use the universal jack.
