Can this be used on square wood posts ?

I would say yes, but it depends somewhat on the application you are using it for. The clamp band is flexible and will conform to the shape of the object being clamped or strapped. I used one to wrap around a ceramic grill insert that had several cracks in it in order to stabilize it and prevent it from cracking completely. This clamp worked well doing that and I still use the grill. I chose this product because I needed a clamp band that was about 6 feet long since the grill insert is around 24 inches in diameter. This band provided the length needed to go around a circumference of that size. Hope this answers your question.

Don't know the exact break strength. But the material is of good quality. An I absolutely love the being able to custom make clamps the size you want.

Can this be used for Marine boat salt water?

Dear Customer, it is made of 304 SS. For salt water, the best choice is 316 SS, but you can spray painting on 304 SS to increase corrosion resistance.

if i used 2 of these to hold 26gal car gas tank would be ok?

I just used them to attach signs to posts, but they seem very sturdy and they tighten down firmly. My suggestion, if you use them for a gas tank is to double, to four, the amount you think you need, just for safety.
