I need the fabric for an awning that will be three yards long. Is canvas fabric thick and strong enough or do you recommend something stronger?

I made covers for my flowerpots. The canvas was stretched out over the pots the entire winter. We had several heavy snows and living in Colorado we had plenty of sunshine too. This spring when we removed the covers, they were intact. In the past when we used reinforced plastic covering the pots always showed the damage from winter i.e. holes and shredding from the wind. The sun did manage to slightly fade the canvas. Years ago we had a canvas awning that we used on a deck. It lasted for many years, but I do believe the awning was made of a heavier fabric. It was opened in the summer sun, all summer. I feel like this canvas is durable enough for an awning, but it might not last as long as the one we had. The price was sure right.

Yes, you can. I sent basically the same question to the seller for 2 yards and they said it would be cut as one piece.😉

how much would i need to cover 5 outdoor chairs with cushions

The fabric is 60" wide, but the selvage edge is about 1" on each side and you can't use that, so you have about 58" to work with. One yard is 36" long. So how much you need will depend on how big your cushions are. I always draw a diagram to see how much fabric I need. I use a 1" seam allowance (which would be an extra 2" you have to add to each piece you cut. There is no nap or pattern, so you can cut your pieces in any direction.
