Swiftons Digital Luggage Scale SW-801, Silver

I would have given it 5 stars but, it has a small piece inside the unit that is rattling around. It works fine as advertised and the light lets you know you are over weight with out even looking at the numbers.

After purchasing a different luggage scale last year, I was looking for a more accurate one. On a previous trip, my suitcase weighed 51 lbs (50 being the limit), rather than the 48 lbs the old scale had indicated. Fortunately for me, the airline rep was generous and told me it was fine, but I have seen them be very strict, and I did not want to be caught re-shuffling things to a carry-on during a future check-in.Reading the reviews for this scale initially , it sounded promising, and especially the small built-in level made a lot of sense.To cut to the chase:A) the scale displayed the same weight each time I weighed my bag (double or triple checking -- one would think that's a given, but not so with the old scale)B) when I got to the airline counter during this trip, their scale reflected the exact same weight as the travel scale, which is obviously the whole point.I also wanted to add that the first shipment I received was defective. Ordinarily that would stop me from giving five stars, but customer service was so excellent, that I wanted to make a point of mentioning this.They got back to me within an hour or so of me contacting them. I described the problem (the scale worked intermittently), mostly thinking there may be a way to recalibrate it or something along those lines. They immediately said they would rather just send out a replacement, which I received within two days. No fuss, no issue whatsoever. The representative I emailed (the same person always responded), even suggested I remove the battery from the first scale to keep as a spare for future use.Overall, one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had (and I have had quite a few!!) and for a well-functioning product, hence the 5-star rating in spite of the initial glitch.

It looks nice but I'm afraid that the stripe won't last that long; maybe too thin/weak for heavier bags/luggages. Time will tell! Rgds Silvia

Our previous luggage scale was "lost" on one of our trips. It was a dial and hook model and took two to read it. We needed another and read reviews and ratings ad nauseam. All the reviews on the Swiftons scale were excellent and I decided to order one. The scale is everything every one said it was. It is light, easy to use, and can be handled by one person, a definite plus. We travel often and need to do more than "guess" the weight. In addition, shortly after we received our scale, we received a helpful email from Swiftons with further instructions on how to use it. Very useful. I can't wait until our next trip to try it out for real.

After several months stoped working.

Great item! Looked sturdy and classy. I thought the weighing machine is so small but actually quite big to accommodate 2 hands easily. The main special feature of this scale is the alarm when your luggage is overweight (more than 20 kg). My Swifton will surely beeps 'cause my luggage is more than 20 kg. Thai Airways maximum check luggage limit is at 30 kg so I'm not gonna put my stuff less than that. One plus is for the spirit level. Not all traveler digital scales out there have this diminutive thingy but big in improvement when it comes to balance your scale properly.

It looks great, but I haven't really used it. I bought it as a gift for my son-in-law, he will be visiting me in July and we will try it out then.

It doesn't beep when ready so if the luggage is pretty heavy best done with two people
