Works for what it’s for
I recently had back surgery and had to limit my bending, including for bathroom hygiene. I bought this tool to help reach the places that need cleaned. Honestly, it looks like a pair of tongs. I guess you could say it’s toilet paper tongs. Lol I found that it works better with flushable wipes as opposed to toilet paper. The wipes stay more securely in the tongs. Toilet paper tends to shred and move. There’s a bit of a learning curve to use but the enclosed instructions help. It was useful while I needed. Can’t say I’m sorry to not need it anymore.

Works great and does the job
This was a lifesaver for me. I fell and broke my elbow. Of course it was my right which is the one I use the most. After getting home from the ER I starting thinking about how I was going to do basic things (hygene). I realized quickly I was going to need something to assist me. I got online and starting browsing Amazon for an aid. I figured I could find something and get it quickly. There are more expensive and complicated items. Some got good reviews while others didn't. Many were made of plastic which some indicated broke after repeated use or they became less functional the longer you had and used them. I finally found this and thought ok this is simple and should do the job. It does and works well. Sometimes the paper my slip out but that's a small problem. I think the tension loosens up after a while also. Still it works great and does what it is supposed to do. For the price you can get one for each bathroom and one to carry with you if needed. It's been 5 months since I broke my arm and since it still doesn't work or extend completely I continue to use this aid. This is the longer version of the item but there is also one that is shorter(12"?) if that helps anyone.

Best I've found, sturdy
I have had back surgery and anticipate another in my future. I have tried several wiping aids and feel I have the best control with this the Sammons Preston Toilet Aid. One product I purchased broke and was easily soiled; another the paper came out too easily; still another just seemed like it was designed backwards. I like the long version the Sammons Preston Toilet Aid. Maybe I'm an idiot, but my tendency was to try to use the Aid like I was moving hot dogs off of a charcoal grill. That's why I included the picture: "place t. p. here. Don't place t.p. here'. Some people might say "Gets the job done." But I haven't found anything that works to get you completely clean. Even when using potty wipes. I am a person who CAN reach but it is sometimes painful and difficult. When I'm able, I do it naturally, but I have also tested the Sammons Preston Toilet Aid by using it and then using paper with my hand. Doing this test, I have found that I am not completely clean. Do yourself a favor and spend the money on a product called HydraWand which is a handheld bidet in the shape of the letter J. It is made in the USA and very sturdily I might add. Using the Sammons Preston Toilet Aid plus the HydraWand is much more effective.

Sometimes Simpler Is Better
I am a healthy and active 6 feet, 290 lbs, and have surgery scheduled on my right shoulder for ruptured tendons, recovery for which is anticipated to leave this dominant limb worthless for a number of months. As an aid to the lesser reach of my non-dominant arm, I ordered the Sammons, Juvo and Toilet Aid products in order to look at each and see what would be the best alternative. Laying out these three products side by side when they arrived, I found the Sammons more robustly built, with a simpler method to load and discharge, and with a thiner more ergonomic operational design. I then put aside the other two for return and did an actual test run with the Sammons. I found that for me, this device worked very well. Since the price point is good, I will probably order a second unit for my other bathroom.

Simple and Effective
I bought this for myself due to obesity and back problems. This works quite well. The handles are long and thin enough to easily slide into the right places. It's not messy and easy to clean. One if the handles broke off my first due to wrapping too much strong toilet paper around it. If you wrap it too tight our use too much tissue, it's hard to pull the handles apart to release the toilet paper. Still, I like it and will buy again.

Forgive my rambling - but I am really excited to have found a simple solution to an embarassing problem!
I have tried every other bathroom aid on Amazon. They all boast of fancy , unique design features. They are all aggravating and worse than useless. They don't hold the paper, they don't release the paper, the point of contact where the device meets the road is too fat for that narrow lane, if you get my drift. I'd practically end up in tears of frustration because cleanliness is so important to me, and since I have developed RA and Fibromyalgia, I just am too big and too weak to clean myself properly. I do recommend the THE PALM TP70 Travel Bidet- Portable Bidet with Longer Pointed Nozzle and Largest 450ml Capacity Water Resorvoir., however , even when you get water to the right spot, you still can't clean it if you can't wipe properly. This gadget is common-sense simple; without buttons and knobs that don't work. You hold it and it gives you the leverage and reach, along with no-fail paper drop (never have to pull the paper out of some stupid nozzle.) I wish they made one that folded in half with a pouch - I'd take it places with me in my purse.

Easy to use
I recently had extensive back surgery and was advised to have this or a similar tool for cleansing purposes. I am fortunate enough to have a bidet toilet, which, for me, eliminated the need for the “tongs” during cleansing. However, this tool is amazingly helpful at pulling up clothing, picking up something close to where I’m sitting, etc. extremely helpful when when even a short “reacher tool” won’t work!
