ONce you make the mistakes - it's great!
Once I got done making a couple dumb mistakes - it works great!Specifically, the Battery/transmitter must be used with the unit being controlled; in my case, a cable box. It you're wanting to control other TV's in other rooms being driven by that single cable box, you must get more hand held controllers from the cable company. Luckily, my cable company supplied me with 3 extra channel changers for free. (Guess my monthly bill made them generous!) Then you must pair each individual TV to be controlled to that specific controller. (The instructions to do this come with the channel changer). The result is that when you press "System" the hand held unit will turn on the TV and control the volume. It will also send a signal to the cable box to turn on, and then select the various channels, etc.Be careful where you set the "eye" that sits in front of the unit being controlled to the saucer. It's fairly sensitive.

Works great! Try this trick if your battery transmitter doesn't work out of the box. . .
This is perfect as a second battery transmitter so that you always have one charged and ready to go.When I first received this battery transmitter, it did not work. It would charge, but it would not transmit a signal. I ended up twisting the outer sheath (with the printing) around the inner core and tried it again. It worked fine after that. I'm not sure why, but I'm passing that on for anyone else who has problems with this transmitter not working.

Great with TIVO
We use TIVO. We send the output from TIVO to all our TVs; HDMI to the most used box and COAX to the kitchen, bathroom and exercise room. By purchasing a TIVO remote and Extra Rf Battery Transmitter for our Next Generation Extender Kit for each TV, we have been able to return 3 cable boxes to Comcast for a $30 per month savings. This means that we can't view different programs on different TVs and the coax connected TV's picture is not quite as sharp as the HDMI connected TV. But for us, to be able to view TIVO recorded shows throughout the house and save $30 a month, this is a wonderful product!!

Converts a second remote control for Around-the-House use
This is simply a second transmitter, rechargable 2/3 AAA battery, and AA battery sleeve for the Next Generation remote control extender, so you can convert a second remote just as you did the first. This is the big advantage of the Next Generation extender. Inexpensive extenders will work with multiple remotes, but only from one room. Others will work from multiple rooms but require expensive IR targets, cabling, and video distribution equipment. The Next Generation will work from multiple rooms without all that, but you need a transmitter for each remote you want to convert. This transmitter is for the 433.92 MHz version of the Next Generation extender. If you have the 418 MHz version, buy the 418 MHz transmitter, not this one.The battery will need recharging before you can use it. Just insert it in the transmitter and put the combo into your "flying saucer" as you did with the original. When the "charge" light goes out, it's ready to install in your second remote. One caveat: I do own one device that doesn't work well with a converted universal remote (a Channel Master DVR). The universal remote works the DVR fine if I'm in the same room, so I know it's programmed correctly; and the DVR's original remote works fine from any room if I convert it, so I know the transmitter's signals are reaching the DVR. But if I convert the universal remote, it will work my satellite receiver from any room - but it won't work the DVR reliably! So you may run into an unlucky combination like I did.

Something wrong with the newer units
I have (2) of the 433MHz Plus Receivers, (1) I am using in my house and (1) stored as a backup. I have (5) DirecTV Remotes working great without any problems. They all have "LRRX-2" labels and are blue text. I decided to purchase (2) additional Transmitters from a Smarthome. Neither one of them worked. I sent them back and purchased (2) more from Yagoozon and neither one of them worked. I then purchased (4) from Phototech hoping (2) of the (4) would work. None of the (4) worked. All (8) had the blue text and the "LRRX-2" printed on them just like the ones I own that work. The light on the Receiver comes on when I press the power button on the remote but nothing happens. I have also tested the transmitter in a working remote with the same results.I purchased the original receiver October 2014 from Amazon and (4) additional transmitters at later dates with no problems. This system is very easy to use, basically plug and play.I hope Amazon can solve this problem. The system works better than anything I have tried in the past.

Best Product - Exceeded my expectation
I am having a full home theatre seup including Optoma HD66 projetor.I wanted to cover all my home theatre equipments inside a wooden cabinet. But after closing the doors my home theatre receiver and satellite receiver did not work with my IR remote. Then after searching in Amazon.com I came to know about "Next Generation Remote Control Extender". Today I received this product. Directly from the box, I could able to setup without any instruction and now all my remotes works when the doors are closed. Even it works from another room. I am extremely happy about this product and sellers service.

Disappointed
The device worked well on my DVR, but did not work at all on my Sony Blue Ray even though both were in the same compartment with the DVR. I had purchased and used extra transmitters and one each was positioned in front of the devices.
