Great Water Filter
I bought this based on the reviews here at Amazon. I figured for the price it was worth a shot.I guess my taste in water is not very demanding as I thought our city water tasted fine. But the family claimed that it had too much chemical taste. So I grew weary of buying bottled water and decided to try this filter. The Installtion: The filter installs on the cold side of the water lines. First, I mounted the filter under the sink and near the front side of the cabinette for easy changing of the filter. Two wood screws and your done. In my case I mounted a small 1x4 board to the cabinette, then the filter to that board. My cabinettes seemed too thin to me to mount it directly to them. But I'd guess that I overbuilt it. Then I cut out about 3 inches of the cold water line with a small hacksaw and used a utility knife to clean up the ends. I tried to make sure that the ends of the cut pipe were clean and round. Push on the plastic connectors (supplied with the filter) until they are completely on (push hard just to be sure). Take a look at the connector first to get an idea of how far on they should go. Cut the plastic tubing (there are two pieces ... one inbound and one outbound) to the correct length with the same utility knife. Push the tubing into the connectors at the sink end and the filter end and your done. Now open the faucet. Turn on the water valve just a little and let a small flow of water thru. Push the red button on top of the filter and let out the air pressure as the filter fills up. I did this several times until I got a small spray of water out of the red button. Now crank open the water valve and let it run for 10 minutes or so to flush out. The end. Maybe an hour or two of work. Most of that time spent checking and double checking the instructions. One try ... absolutely no leaks. Instructions were great. Other than a hacksaw, screwdriver and utility knife, everything is included. I'm no plumber and have virtually no experience doing this stuff but gave it a try anyway. I left a couple of pans with dry paper towel over them for a day to watch for leaks. I honestly wasn't convinced that the plastic connectors would hold. We've been using this for a month or so and have had no leaks at all.And the ultimate test was the family. Eveyone loves the new taste (or lack of taste I guess). An UNBELIEVABLE value!

Great Deal
I just wanted something that would take the chlorine taste out of my tap water. This thing works great. It only hooks up to cold water which is perfect for filtering drinking water. Installation was fairly easy. When I first hooked it up, water was squirting out of all the connectors. I didn't realize that you have to push harder on them when you insert them. You have to feel it pop into the connector. You may have to buy some tubing because it only comes with a foot and a half. But that stuff is cheap to get at a hardware store (make sure its for potable water). But once this was hooked up and mounted it has worked like a charm and with zero leaks. Even the basic filter it comes with (D-20) tastes great. I do recommend getting replacement cartridges (D-30) because its supposed to filter out much more little nasties that you might not necessarily taste. Getting replacement filters is very easy, I've even seen store brand filters that are compatible with this filter housing. I really enjoy this filter and recommend it to anyone that wants great tasting water from their own tap. Especially if you want a inexpensive way to get away from bottled water, this saves a bunch of money within only a year.

Great buy
I have been complaining about the high chlorine content in our city water for some time. I think I have a lower tolerance for the smell and taste than my wife - she was not convinced we needed a filter. I decided on this due to the other good reviews and the price - cheaper than the whole house system I desired, but should eliminate the bad taste for drinking water and cooking at the kitchen faucet.Installation:Installation was a cinch - took about 25 minutes, but would have been less if I'd have been able to find a good light for under the sink. The only tools I used were my power drill, a pipe cutter for the line going to my faucet, and a razor for cutting the tubing that came with the kit. I had my doubts about the plastic push-to-connect fittings that came with it, but they fit snug and didn't leak a drop.Water quality:I let it run the recommended 15 minutes to clean potential carbon dust out of the filter, then did a test. I poured a glass of water from a non-filtered faucet, and one from the kitchen where I installed this. I saw the familiar small floaties, smelled the chlorine smell, and tasted the harsh chemical chlorine taste in the non-filtered water. The filtered water came out pretty aerated so I had to let it sit a minute before I could get a good look. The water had none of the floaties, no noticeable smell, and the harsh chemical taste was gone. I was impressed. The great part is that when I handed both glasses to my wife, she was able to identify the filtered water - pretty good for somebody who didn't even notice the high chlorine content we had to begin with.Overall I am impressed with the quality of components, ease of installation, and quality of water I get for the little amount of money I spent.
