HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock

I had been through theee "cheap" versions of a docking station when my son suggested HP docking station to me. It is far superior to any of the other units I have had and is very easy to set up. I love that this also charges my computer saving my actual computer charger for trips and portability without having to unplug everything. It also has plenty of ports for what I need with having two monitors, a printer, USB fan and the ability to charge my phone. My son has had his for over 3 years and I have high hopes for mine. I consider this a a quality purchase worth the money and out performs all others.

Like this. works well, did have to update for windows 11, but I was an early adopter so not surprised at that. Probably no longer an issue by now (6 months later), bottom line is I would gladly buy another if needed.

I purchased this dock in January 2025. It was listed as "new". When I received it, there were a few scuff marks, but I shrugged it off since it was listed as "new". Yesterday, the dock quit. I tried to submit a claim for warranty to find out that the warranty expired back in 2020. I am not happy with this purchase/seller at all!

Excellent product! We used to have another brand that the power supply kept failing on us and there is nowhere to find a replacement. But this one feels much better, works better and since we use HP business laptop we can take full advantage of its features! It has plenty of ports, can support 3 screens and looks very nice.

Moved to this from a low profile style that the laptop snaps in to. I like the form factor, but I linked that I unboxed, connected my peripherals and turned everything on and it worked. No new drivers, no special cables, no calling tech support. It works for me as advertised. It’s a little pricy, but all of the usb-c and lightning hubs are. Overall I am happy with it.

Not the best

I had tried two other USB-C docks for my HP ENVY laptop but neither worked though they had claimed they would, were universal. All the features of this HP dock work with the HP ENVY. Quite a search was needed. I haven’t used it for extra monitors, just the Ethernet, audio, USB ports. Not used for charging either.

The first one lasted just over a year and had to be HARD RESET every time I unplugged it from the Laptop! The second one (to replace the first) arrived DOA.Find something else! Do NOT Buy.
