Lingua Latina per se Illustrata: Latine Disco, Student's Manual (Latin Edition)

I have never been happier with a Latin program. LLPSI is intuitive, effective, practical, and genuinely fun. The “all-Latin” style is intimidating for about five minutes, and then it’s just exciting. The instant “win” of chapter one is glorious. I really can’t say enough good things about this text. Paired with Luke Ranieri’s excellent (and free!) videos, this program is the sine qua non of Latin programs. I’m deeply grateful that a friend coaxed me into taking the leap on this!

It is only 46 pages of text (yes the print is very small) but the ~1 page per chapter contains some helpful information to guide a student -- particularly for some of the edge cases (such as CH15 and the impersonal verb licet). Unlike some others that have complained my copy is an print not a photocopy (or photocopy of a copy). Well worth the price.

You only need to read it and put time to enjoy reading latin. When you can read and understand fast enough, the next reading material should be the latin vulgate. Don’t skip the vulgate. Caesar and cicero is a big jump from the basics

Lingua Latina is an immersion text so there's very little explanation of the grammar or what Orberg is trying to teach in each chapter, and you are left to the mercy of the instructor to learn. This manual is in English and provides a concise explanation of the grammatical lesson for each chapter. I highly recommend it as a supplement to the main text. The only complaint I have about it is that the text if very small so it's really an eyestrain.

If you are considering purchasing the main book - Lingua Latina per se Illustrata - then I would strongly recommend you purchase this and the other books in the series. They form a complete whole, meet the needs of both student and teacher, can be applied in the class as well as for individual study, and serve excellently as a method of learning Latin for both young and old.

This booklet is an invaluable aid to Lingua Latina, explaining the grammar with examples from the book. If you are studying Familia Romana get this book!
