WORKS GREAT
After 4 years of working awesome, we took on water. And decided to buy another floatron. The guy who owns the company took my calls and explained everything, a couple times. Super helpful I bought this after researching cleaner pool maintenance options. A „natural” plant system is out of the range at the moment and opted for the ionic process. We barely use added chemicals outside of the normal open and close process. Once in a while during the summer if the pool is really used heavily. Anyone who claims poor results, I have a few questions what else could be wrong because you need to test your water for more than chlorine and pH. We had to correct alkalinity first one opening and after that, everything worked amazingly. Spend the money for a nice Taylor kit. Read the instructions and it’s not hard to be your own pool guy. The process of using the floatron has been super cost effective over the long haul. I didn’t want to buy one on amazon, but chose to so I can leave a review. Same price at the floatron site, so I figured why not. Excellent product. We highly recommendthe floatron.

It really works
We were skeptical about this working but purchased after it was recommend via our mail lady. My husband maintains the pool and says he's hardly used any chemicals since purchasing this. In the 6 years we've had the pool the water has never been so pretty. I'm not sure how long it will last as this is the first summer we have used it, but so far we are impressed.

I love it, it cleared all the algae from the ...
ok, I waited several months to evaluate this product. I love it , it cleared all the algae from the pool in 2 weeks and it softened the water and now I put only 1 tablet a week of chlorine that does not even register on my test kit. so basically little to no chlorine, and the water is crystal clear. I believe when I add an ultraviolet sanitizer to the system I will have to use zero chemical based on the way this product is performing alone!ok, now the cons, you will want to clean the anode several times a week or it gets to be a big chore, plus it will work better since its doing a lot of work for you. it takes an easy 10 minutes. also the anode will not last a year. the first one will probably last 6 months and then maybe they will last longer after conditioning the water? its worth it to me because of the chemical free water quality. product is highly recommended.

Not a toy but a great tool
Had this Floatron now for about a year and pool season in South FL is year round. It has been floating happily in my pool the entire time, I do not take it out, since I have a pool cage and therefore sun exposure is less because of the screen blocking some the intensity of the sun. But this has not really been a problem for me. This pool always was a bit of a problem pool since the previous owner had a gelcoat resurfacing done and that is the most awful way to go since it peels and disintegrates after a few years and the fiberglass fibers are coming off with some of the chalking when you brush it, so I usually don't, besides putting the fibers into the pool it also makes it cloudy. Not brushing means at times algae can grow more easily. Since I have the Floatron, algae is not a problem anymore. The Floatron only needs cleaning at least every other week (more in the beginning) with a wire brush to get the mineral deposits off the coil. Then hose it off and put it back into the water and the copper electrode does the rest.Copper ions (and other metal ions) are released to fight algae and bacteria. After initial start up ( about 3-4 month for a 15k gal pool under sunscreen with SSE exposure) I cut back chlorine input drastically. It actually does not really need to be shocked anymore unless you have high pool traffic and /or other accidents or animals/pets entering the pool often. I also would recommend non-chlorine shock, so you do not have to deal with the harshness of this chemical. I put a 3" tablet of Chlorine into the Chlorinator and set it to low. I did cut back the pump from running 8 hrs and more in the beginning to about 2-3 hours, which is just enough to filter the amount of the entire pool water once per day. This balances out to a Chlorine reading of about 0.5ppm (normal would be 2-3ppm). I never thought this could be possible but it saved me more on electric and chemicals after 1 year to almost break even with the price of this device but the main part for me is that I do not have to subject myself to the high Chlorine exposure. I had been working as a pool service tech before and I took care of a lot of pools incl. commercial ones and I know what it entails to clean and maintain them, so this amazing device is doing a great job and my pool is sparkling clean, even after a heavy rainfall (which we have daily here in the rain season), I was surprised that it could handle the job as well as it did so far. I do keep any organic debris out of the pool as much as possible and as soon as possible.I actually had the pump off for 3-4 days because of repair and so there was no cleaning, filtering or any chemicals added and it maintained the clear water, no cloudiness that normally would set in at that time in this weather and area. I also forgot to renew the chlorine tablet at times and there was absolutely no chlorine in the water for about 2 weeks and it was still clear. To sum it up I can definitely recommend this item, just be patient during the start up period, it eventually will have slowly released enough ions to keep it balanced and protected. The rating on this is for some reason meant for toys but overall i would give it 4 1/2 stars. Some people had some problems with durability and said it sank after some time. While I did not experience this, I see why that could happen. The seals around the Floatron after a while of sun exposure and especially if you are using a lot of Chlorine still can be compromised and start letting some water in. I noticed the seals not being that tight anymore but it has not influenced the buoyancy of the device yet.

Not built like they used to be.
I've been a floatron user for years and the concept does work. However, the last 2 Floatrons I have bought just haven't held up like the used to. Life of the unit now seems to be 1.5-2 years before it breaks where it used to be 4-5 years. It's pretty annoying!
