It's HUGE
First of all this book is HUGE, I didn't quite realize how big 11"ร8 1/2"ร3 1/2" really is until I received it in the mail today. It comes in a specially designed box, which protects the actual box the Bible itself comes in.The Bible itself is protected on all sides by 1/2" heavy foam padding. I would take pretty much an act of God, or an act of war, for the Bible to be damaged during shipping. The Bible is also wrapped in a heavy cream coloured paper for even more protection. The title page is heavily ornamented with various allegorical figures representing the Old Testament, Hebrew Law, and the New Testament. There are also figures of various Prophets, and Saints. This is also where you start to see the differences in modern spellings, and the typeface which can take some getting used to. For example the lower case letter S, looks like a more modern lower case letter F. The lower case V, looks more like a lower case U.The difference in modern spellings, for example the word Originall spelled with two Ls. Or Majesty spelled Majestie. In the letter to.HRM James I of happy memory, the typeface is actually much easier to read than the "Olde English" typeface used in the main body. Again we see Mighty spelled Mightie, and James looks more like Iames. What follows is a preface The Translators to the Reader. A quite scholarly treatise on how the translation was done. This was obviously not written for the average person, being that most of the people, including not a small number of the Nobility were still illiterate. Rather it was written for other scholars to show the great pains the translators took in making sure they took all due diligence to make sure they stayed as true as possible to the original meaning. Then there are charts for reading the Bible each day, at both morning, and evening prayers. There are various other charts for when Easter will fall, and the proper lessons for holy days. What follows then are myriad pages of genealogies going from God through Adam, all the way to Christ. Let's just say that there was a whole lotta begetting going on.Then there is a map of Canaan, with various locations of interest. This version of the Bible contains the Apocryphal books which are not found in most Protestant Bibles today. Some such as the book of Enoch were quoted in the New Testament. Most are various historical events that some people don't feel rise to the level of scripture. The Bible also comes with a pamphlet that delves into the history of how an English language translation(which for centuries was opposed by Rome, and later by other Church Authorities. Even HRM Catherine Parr, fell under suspicion for having an English Bible)came about. But to me what made me decide to spend the $162.00 was the quarter folio page of a Bible actually printed at least 350 years ago. I feel it's kind of ironic that the page I received was the Book of Jonah, since I don't really believe that he lived in a fish for three days.So in conclusion, this is not a Bible that you're going to carry with you to church on Sunday. This is a small pulpit Bible, or a display Bible. It is meant to be read, and not just on special occasions. It would be a shame just to use it for that. There are other versions of the 1611 KJV bible that can be carried, and read on a daily basis. But to my knowledge none of them contain the "Olde English" typeface. Which for daily use might not be a bad thing.I do highly recommend buying this Bible, if for no other reason than it's historical value.

Affordable, Quality 1st Edition 1611 KJB Facsimile
One can pay much more for a quality 1st Edition 1611 KJB facsimile, but this one is very acceptable! Print and illustrations are crisp and clean, with solid binding weighing in at almost 10 lbs!I find it easy to read, once I got used to the Gothic font, the lower case long s which resembles an f, early printer's abbreviations, no letter J existed in 1611 (I was used instead), and the archaic spelling and orthography. Note that very infrequently you may notice a typo which was in the original due to setting each piece of type and composing printing galleys all by hand. If you suspect there's a typo, compare the reading with a current printing of the KJB.There are many interesting study aids, dedications and beautiful, ornate illustrations.God's perfect, divinely preserved Word for the English speaking world! Today's KJB is no different except for standardized spelling and punctuation updated in the 1770s.

Avery good copy of the original King James Bible
This copy of the 1511--the REAL King James Bible is used as a display piece in my living room. Its pages are attractive and It is an interesting copy of the original Bible. It also shows that the various newer translations that are still called the KJV are as different from the original as the NIV or any other modern translations. It is a very large book so it commands attention on my table, which is the basic reason I bought it.

Excellent quality, curved glossy binding.
This King James 1611 Holy Bible replica is beautiful! The 350 year old bonus page that comes complimentary is such an awesome keepsake, which elevates this product. The book comes extremely well packaged and very secure for shipping. The book binding and finish is actually much nicer in person than in product images. In the product photos, the binding exterior looks flat and matt finish, but in reality itโs curved with a beautiful glossy finish which accents the perfectly foiled reflective gold leaf text. Unfortunately when I received my first copy the binding just below the gold foil 1611 mark had a scuff mark. For me, I couldnโt look past this, as Iโm using this as a display piece as well as for reading. I will write another review with 5 stars once I receive the replacement. UPDATE: Replacement came FAST and book is in perfect condition. Couldnโt be happier! Of your thinking of buying, get it!

Worth the 5 stars ๐
Even though I returned this bible, I really enjoyed seeing it. It's was hard for me to read because of the way the old English language is. It's not a bible that you want to take to church because it's way to big and heavy and would be difficult to read along. I still gave it 5 ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ . If you like original, and know how to read old English, then this is the bible for you. It's also a great conversation piece. Have a blessed one ๐.

A note on the spellings.
Just a note to anyone thinking of getting this version of the KJV, be prepared. In 1611, English letters looked different to what they do now. Capital S looked like, an F, etc. Also spellings of words have changed over the years. Don't think that they didn't know how to spell correctly. We have changed the spelling of the words in the 400 years since it was translated to English. For reference take a look at Chaucers Canterbury Tales in the original language. English looked and sounded much different than it does today. It has evolved quite a bit from its 5th century beginnings. Often folks talk about using the 1611 King James Version, but they are really referring to the 1769 edition. Most people would struggle to read the 1611 version due to the changes in the language and spelling.
