Framing nailer -- Hitachi
recommendation from the contractor who used it for us, working good on a rehab of a living area where there was lots of framing

Hitachi NR83A2 Framing Gun
This gun is wonderful. I am a woman who is finishing her basement. The last time Ifinished a basement was 14 years ago and all the nailing was done by hand. Now thatcompressors have become so affordable I decided to get one and use air tools for thejob. I researched and found that Hitachi makes the best guns in the business. Afterusing this one I can honestly say that it is very nice. It is very balanced and thenails are spot on. You can tell when you pick up this gun that it very well made.I only want to buy one of these once, so I bought the best. The other one I have usedwas Senco, it was not consistent with the nail depth and felt unbalanced. My handshurt after awhile using it. Not with the Hitachi, used serveral days in a row andno problem.

Not the same tool.
This is the third nailer I have owned 1) pos pasload 2) nr83a2 old style, made in Japan, the best nailer ever. I've had it for 8 years. It has survived trips off roofs, getting run over by a car, still works fine just needs some love. 3) nr83a2(y) new style, made in taiwan, I don't know what the y is for but it has a couple of parts that on my old nailer are aluminum and on the new one are plastic. Good starter nailer, but is not the professional tool I had before.

We ordered an A2 but received an A5 in an A2 box. That's the reason for the low rating.
I bought this for my son because he wanted the NR83A2. He rated this 2 stars because what he paid for was an NR83A2. What he got was a brand new NR83A5 in an NR83A2 box. The product he received is in impeccable condition and serves him well, so well that he decided not to send it back. But, he really had his heart set on an A2 and was very disappointed because he says the A2 ismonumentally superior to the A5 in that it has more power, is lighter and needs less maintenance. He claims every construction professional knows this. The low rating is less a rating of the product than a rating of the transaction.

Top notch nail gun.
I purchased this gun after always having a paslode gun and I will never go back. This gun just fill so much nicer then the paslode gun did. The only thing you have to watch out for is the plastic flying off the nails when firing. Eye protection is a very good idea as it is with any nail gun. I also installed the rafter hanger for this nail gun. Tool Hangers S40903 Hitashi Nail Gun Hanger. (Silver) This worked perfect with just a little work.

framing gun
I love all the Hitachi nail guns I've purchased, from the micro pinner to this framing gun. I've used bostich, pasload and other names I don't recall. But the ones made by Hitachi that I've used, well, I have no complaints. Got the micro pinner, the 18 gauge, the 16 gauge and the 15 gauge trim guns as well... oh, and the 1/4" crown stapler, all work excellent and hardly ever jam, which mean less down time and more work. Great tools guys, thanks.
