An effective compressor at a good price.
An effective compressor that gives me a useful range of compression whilst keeping my tone true and introducing only a minimal amount of noise (which is almost unavoidable when adding compression).Aside from the sound, I really like the solid metal construction of this pedal and the rubber base although I'm not a big fan of the battery compartment cover as I know from experience with other equipment that the design used for the retaining clip is prone to weakening over time until it eventually breaks. How long it will last in this instance waits to be seen. Still, I power my pedals using power adaptors so no worries here. I also like the way this thing looks with the lime green case and white scorpion. It adds a bit of personality.Anyway, I really dig this pedal and it's a great companion to the equally cool Joyo Ultimate Drive which I also bought recently. This compressor also works very well with my Akai Pro Distortion pedal to give me a truly bollo*k-hardening tone that can blow a superglued toupée off over half a mile away.I consider a compressor to be a prerequisite in any guitarist's effects arsenal and unless they already have a decent compressor this is a good choice at a low price. A decent compressor can be left on all the time and can really help smooth out inconsistences in dynamics and create a slicker overall sound.Nice work Joyo!Update: Having used this compressor for a couple of years now I must point out that if you require a highly compressed sound for country and western chicken pickin' and the like then this pedal is not a good option as is doesn't have the required amount of compression. I do, however, leave this pedal on all the time at the start of my effects chain after my tuner and I'm happy enough with the way it works. Just don't expect anything special.

Good sounding, well constructed Compressor Pedal at a great price
I'm new to the world of pedals and so did quite a lot of research before I opted for this Joyo compressor. I wanted something that didn't cost the earth but would give reasonable performance. This is actually a true by-pass pedal and adds nothing to your tone/sound when switched off However, you'll read reviews that state some hissing can be heard when the compressor function button is switched on. Perhaps if you have a fat Marshall amp cranked up to stage volume. But as a back bedroom, jamming with my mates, guitar player I have to say I haven't heard ant hissing....but I did see a lot of loud and good bands "back in the day" if you know what I mean! Anyway: good construction, endless sustain (if you want it), great for providing even toned strumming - it really does iron out any unevenness in the strumming technique. Basically the same as a Harley Benton pedal but without the shipping costs. My other option would have been a Rowen mini pedal, which I can also recommend. Loads of demos on Youtube of both.

Quality Dyna Comp clone at a rock bottom price
Just bought this pedal after buying the Joyo British Sound overdrive and being amazed with that too. Quality of the product seems initially excellent and you are getting what is apparently a Dyna-Comp clone for the price of a couple of DVDs. The casing is metal, the knobs are solid and easy to use, and the sound is excellent with true bypass! I even comes complete with a 9v battery! What's not to like?Well, my only very minor dislike is the battery cover, which is a bit flimsy and fiddly to replace. The battery housing is a little tight too but not an issue really.I'd have no problem recommending this to anyone (all guitarists should own a compressor anyway and £30 is not a lot to spend to find out the sonic benefits of owning one). This is money well spent and I'm sure I'll be buying more of their excellent pedals at this price.

STILL NOT SURE
Read loads of hype about how important a compressor was on the board so decided on this to try after reading decent reviews and I had a another joyo pedal that I was very happy with. . I didn't want to pay a lot as never had one before.Very disappointed with it at first as couldn't notice anything much if anything especially with the attack control. I thought it might be faulty and maybe I should have returned it but I persevered with it.With more use I finally found a level it did something as long as the sustain is past 12 o'clock its OK, I had the sustain much too low before. The level control depends what you want it for and of course its balance with the amp. Same goes for the attack but I found this quite subtle.I can't quite explain what it does to the sound only that when it's turned off it is noticeable and missed, that is I prefer the sound you can get when it's on, surely that's the important thing not the technical reasons why. My favourite sound at the moment is when it's used with the overdrive pedal. I'm sure with a bit more trial and error I'll understand it a little more. It's not a pedal that gave instant results for me like an overdrive or delay but time has seen some benefit. It's been I think mainly down to my lack of compression knowledge rather than this being a terrible pedal, I'm sure many pedals are better on the market but for the price it may be worth trying. I would suggest though don't do what I did but instead get someone with compressor knowledge to demo it and maybe others before taking the plunge.I'm only giving it a 2 star at the moment but I may review this at a later date.

Great pedal
Bought this after reading the other reviews, but was not sure, but have grown to love it. Its on my pedal board now and will be staying there. Through my Hughes &ketner tubemeister, it can nicely compliment the clean sound, or turn the already snarling high gain into a monster. Used through Fender blues juniorIIII, it can still give a huge range of tones, you just have to spend some time playing with the settings to achieve any sound you may want, remarkable pedal, remarkable price, buy it.!!

great value compressor
This Joyo compressor is good value. Compression is a subtle effect and one that many people don't want to pay big money for - here is your solution! The pedal feels well made and seems to be a copy of the well known MXR dyna comp. It works well, giving a tight, punchy er compressed sound to your tone. Google the MXR if you want an idea of what this sounds like. I love it and it gets a worthy four stars.
