Can it be used with a smart plug to turn off and on with Alexa?

I dont know. I have ours set on a timer, dusk to dawn..hope this helps!

What about indoor use. How does it stand securely on a wooden floor. Does it stand alone on the base securely?

Nope it will need to be secured or it falls over.Outside it can be staked into the ground.Maybe if the trunks of the palm are balanced,it may improve its stability..Not really sure about inside on wood/ or solid floors how to stabilize it.

Is this supposed to come with a remote control?

Mine did not, although I’m not sure if it was supposed to. The portion that plugs into the wall has a small button you press to interchange between the various light options. A remote would have been more ideal but it’s not a dealbreaker for me.
