Would this be useful for plaster carving?

I have no experience with plaster because I only use clay which is a soft material. I believe working with plaster is more like carving and needs harder tools.

I bought it as a gift as it appeared to be of good quality. Don't know where it was made. You should be able to find out by accessing info on the company.

is this for hand building or wheel building?

I bought it mostly for hand building but I don’t see why it some of the tools can’t be used for the wheel. I’ve used this set for both with complete satisfaction. These are the basics for all kinds of pottery! And a very good deal for the price.
