What is the weight limit? I'm looking for hooks for hanging baseball caps on the wall.

I wouldn’t use these for baseball caps. These work great to hang paper and index card weight papers. I use these in my classroom. Definitely would NOT hold baseball caps.

Do these open wide enough to hold a thin notepad ?

At their widest point they open up to about five eights of an inch, so I assume it would depend on how wide your notepad is!
