Comfortable but more flimsy than manufacturer's blurb suggests
I have to say, from my own practical perspective I'm being a little generous with the rating, because really these socks proved to be greatly inferior to what I thought I was going to get. I put my hand up here and admit, I'd got confused by the actually fairly confusing Thorlo blurb, and had ordered the wrong style. I was actually wanting replacements for my old Thorlo socks, which were much thicker and more robust and durable than these Hiking socks turned out to be. At the time I ordered, I couldn't remember whether it was the Thorlo Hiking or Trekking sock that I'd been using over the years, so I researched online and got confused by Thorlo's descriptions and, as I say, ordered the wrong socks - but did not realize that that was the problem and just assumed Thorlo had downgraded their premium sock style. It was only later on, after some use of the socks, that I contacted Thorlo, complaining about that apparent downgrading, and a very nice and helpful support person suggested that it was actually the TKX Trekker style (not available in Amazon UK and not widely stocked in the UK at all) that I wanted - and, to make sure about that she even had a complimentary pair sent out to me (in UK) from the USA by superfast post, so I could confirm that that really was what I was after. So, my sun-hat off to Thorlo, and, yes, it was the TKX Trekker that I really had been after. Anyway, I pointed out to the Thorlo people that they'd help prospective customers a lot by amending their marketing blurb to make comparison of styles much quicker and simpler. So, then, about these Hiking socks. Really my experience of them wasn't properly representative, because they were a bit on the thin side for the shoe size I was using, and so I expect that that would have speeded wear on them. However, even taking that into account, I was rather dismayed by the amount of internal 'wool' fluff that was being shed on the soles of my feet during every walk using them, and I wasn't at all surprised that one pair had already warn through against my right little toe and had got very thin under the heel after only a few walks; the other pairs of mine (I had four altogether) hadn't worn down to that extent but were clearly going to do so pretty soon with all that loss of internal fluff.I also had a thorn catch near the top of the calf part of one of the socks, pulling out a thread, which then initiated unravelling to make a hole there. I'd never had that happen to a sock before over the decades that I've been going out on regular wild and strenuous hikes, during which the socks would often get briefly caught by brambles. So my general impression was that, although they were certainly comfortable, they were a bit flimsy in relation to the claims of toughness and durability being made for them in the sales blurb. Anyway, I'm keeping the socks for the odd future occasions when I have shoes that are a closer fit, where those socks would do better and wear a bit less fast - but I still don't expect much of a life for them with all my hiking on rugged Cornish coast path.As an aside, I'd give a little warning. If you understand from this review that you want to buy the really excellent, thick and seemingly bomb-proof Thorlo TKX Trekkers from a UK source, which isn't available (as yet) on Amazon UK, you need to research any trader carefully online for customer reviews, and not to rely on a good WOT rating for them. There are a few scam sites selling these socks, taking your money and not supplying the goods. I've just been caught out by one of them (with a 'good' WOT rating too!) and lost money, so I say this with feeling! Please note too that that particular scam trader is actually operating also as an Amazon Marketplace trader - so, you need to look not just at overall rating for a trader but what their individual user feedback is saying.

Very warm, comfortable and soft, but hard-wearing
I love Thorlos Thick cushion Hiking socks. They are warm and cosy as bedsocks; cushioning and anti-rubbing when used for hiking. They wash and dry well and last for several years before they begin to need darning. I wouldn't throw them away even when they become too worn for hiking because they also make excellent winter bedsocks: they keep your feet toastie warm. More importantly, whatever you are doing, they stay in place, not twisting round on your foot, but don't grip too tightly and don't leave marks on the skin. It's quite magical how they manage this! I'm a female with size 7, E fitting feet and these 5-8 socks fit perfectly. Possibly a man with wide size 8 feet might be more comfortable with the next size up? Because these are wider and longer, I much prefer them to so-called 'Women's socks' .

Not worth the money.
Bought these to replace a couple of pairs of ageing Bridgedale walking socks. Really not impressed with them. After a couple of washes they’ve lost their shape and have gone a bit baggy on my feet. Certainly not worth £18 a pop. Won’t buy them again

Comfortable and good value
I bought the thick version of these socks and they are very comfortable and wick sweat decent, I used the same pair for 3 days straight on a winter training course as I didn’t want to use my other socks after using these. I finally felt comfortable in my B3 boots with these on so I just used the same pair I have now purchased some more so I don’t have to do that again, they work well with a liner pair of socks as well and they wash well ✌🏽

My husband loves the socks, especially with walking boots. They offer comfort and support for the feet.

but these are by far the most comfortable and, unlike the others
I purchased some of these 30 months ago. I'm a walker and I'd been suffering from plantar faciitus and a "raw" heel for some time .I also bought several other makes, but these are by far the most comfortable and, unlike the others, these have not shrunk or gone nasty in the wash.I wouldn't normally dream of paying over £10 for a pair of socks, but I'm about to order several more pairs !

Superb warmth & protection - Basically I love them. Bugger Bridgdale, get these.
They knock any Bridgedale socks (which I've used for 15 years now) into a cocked hat. Robust, comfortable and warm. Highly recommended.American special forces use them. Now I know why - they like to be comfortable and warm as well.
