... tons of other sharpeners - this is just a nice little thing that does the job well
I've got the Spyderco system and tons of other sharpeners - this is just a nice little thing that does the job well.As with all ceramics it'll benefit from a clean now and then - I use pan scourers.

Peerless tool for recovering a sharp edge
The thing most folks won't realise is that this is NOT a sharpener in the normal sense of the word. It is a hone. The knife needs to be sharp to begin with. If not sure, go to Google and type in 'difference between sharpening and honing'.I too have a Spyderco system and my kitchen knives are razor sharp. However, with use, the 'razor' edge dulls slightly and this tool is utterly peerless in recovering that edge (it straightens the apex of the edge). Gently swipe using the angle shown by the plastic ends a couple of times each side and away you go, job done. I do it before using my kitchen knives these days. For its price, it's exceptional value.PS I thought I was reviewing the white - Fine Grit 'bone'. The above still applies however.
