Excellent durable and hard-working phone. I could not ask for anything more!
Was very skeptical about purchasing at first due to mixed reviews. However, I found this phone to be fantastic! Was purchased as a gift for a farmer who is not very gentle and this phone has met the test of time. So durable, excellent sound quality, sleek styling and overall a great value. Compatible with our plan and many others. The price point is phenomenal and it's very difficult to find such a good quality and durable device without a huge sticker. Attached. Would definitely purchase again!

Doesn't Make Phone Calls or Texts All That Well
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked up this phone because it promised to be durable and make phone calls. Unfortunately, it doesn't do that very well. As you try to dial it lags considerably causing you to double type numbers or miss digits. I bought this to be a dumb phone, and all I needed for it to do was to make calls and maybe text. It was constantly getting bogged down by the simplest tasks. In addition, it required me to regularly reboot it because it claimed that it could not read my SIM card. This phone fails at the most basic level which is too bad. I really liked the idea of it being a flip phone that would give me a break from social media and other notifications.

A great step away from smartphone addiction — not perfect, but absolutely worth it
In 2023, I made the decision to get rid of my smartphone. I sold my latest-model Samsung, and with the money, bought a nikon camera and this flip phone. After a lot of research, I landed on the CAT S22. It’s not a true “dumb phone,” but it’s dumb enough — just enough to break the cycle of doomscrolling and mindless app use, while still giving me the basic functionality I need. Why I chose this phone — and why I’m glad I did:I needed something that could still run a few essential apps — Google Maps, mobile banking, audiobooks, even the daycare pickup app for my nephew. The CAT S22 can download most apps (though some don’t work well on the small screen), and that balance has been perfect for me.What I love:-My brain is quieter. Truly. Moving to this simpler phone has made a noticeable difference in my mental clarity and overall peace. No more being sucked into social media. No more wasted hours scrolling.-It does what I need. I can text (I use a different keyboard with swype + voice input), call, listen to audiobooks, check maps, and run a few key apps.-Great speakers. Calls are clear, and I can play music or audiobooks and hear them just fine.-Good battery life. A full charge lasts a day or two, and I love that the battery is removable — I brought a spare on a camping trip and just swapped it out.-Strong service. I get the same level of signal and reception as my husband’s high-end smartphone.-The flip phone vibe is fun. Honestly, people think I’m some kind of secret agent when I snap it shut. That alone adds a little joy to the day.Downsides — and why I still stick with it:-Durability is iffy. I’ve gone through three of these phones. Thankfully, I bought the insurance plan, and each time the hinge broke (from dropping it), they replaced it. The flip top just isn’t as sturdy as I hoped, so this phone is not for the super clumsy (guilty).-The camera is awful. Potato quality. Don’t plan on using this for pictures. I use a separate camera for that now and I’m much happier with the results.-Small screen = limited app functionality. Some apps just won’t run or display properly — which is actually kind of the point. I didn’t want something addictive, just something functional.-No headphone jack. I use Bluetooth when needed, but it’s worth noting for anyone who still relies on wired headphones.Bottom line: If you're looking to simplify your digital life, stay off social media, and break free from the smartphone trap — without giving up all modern function — the CAT S22 is a great in-between. It’s not perfect, but it’s exactly what I needed to reset my tech habits, stay connected, and live a little more intentionally.

ACTUALLY UNLOCKED AND BETTER THAN ADVERTISED
okay first point this phone is actually unlocked, CAT phones were originally tmobile exclusive phones so it has the logo flash during the launch process and has all the carrier apps but it is unlocked and will be accepted at any carrier i confirmed this deeper in my settings. second point this is running android 11 not android 11 go, so its basically an android smartphone before we went insane with flagship models inside a nostalgic phone that feels healthier to keep around. coming from an iphone XR, the screen/keyboard width + overall thickness of the phone feels like an even tradeoff, about double the thickness and maybe a cm ir so more narrow. and bc capitalism has made us conveniently forget, im going to point out that a 2 RAM phone is the same specs as the iphone 8. which worked PERFECTLY FINE before we updated our phones and let apple gaslight us into thinking we needed 8 RAM and AI hardbaked into the software. is it instantaneous loading? no, but the extra 1-3 seconds gives me a moment to think about wtf im even doing, i dont need a phone that can process faster than my own brain. its perfect for people like me that dont have social media or use a phones fancy flagship features when leaving the house. running it completely de-googled with positive results and will update if my opinion changes.
