Bought this gift for my brother who’s a collector of video games and gadgets. He loved this and I comes preloaded with games right out the box. No issues yet.

Worked for only a short time. Worked for a few months then stopped turning on. It is stuck on the logo screen and won't do anything else. Many have complained in forums about the SD cards. Wouldn't buy this again. Not worth it since it didn't even last a year. Some games to play were good but others weren't copied over correctly and had glitches.

The build quality is probably one of the best build in an electronic device I've seen in some time. If you like Retro gaming up to the Dreamcast this works well. It has some minor quirks, but the quirks are nothing you can't work around. I would recommend changing the firmware to allow for more functionality, but even with the stock firmware it plays the games as expected.

It comes preloaded with games and setup is very straight forward. There are options for customization within the OS, but also, you can add a custom OS if you prefer. It can run a lot of the old consoles and some N64, but if you're looking for stable N64 I wouldn't pick this handheld for it. This is mostly for 2D retro gaming up to the PS1. It runs FF7, FF8 and FF9 and a friend of mine who got his at the same time as I did plays other PS1 games without issues. Couldn't recommend this enough, it's a lot of fun.

I work a full-time job, a part-time job, and I am a full-time student. I do not have a lot of time to play video games, so I decided to pick up this handheld. When it first booted up, I was excited to see all of the games from my childhood staring back at me. I played for about 3 hours on the first day before putting down the handheld. The device sat unbothered on my office desk for around 3 weeks before I decided to pick it up and play again; however, the device no longer turned on. The green light indicator was there, but the screen was black. After several seconds looking at the black screen it would flash “Game Over” before going back to a forever black screen. Thankfully, I was able to return the device and get my money back (all but an odd restocking fee for a broken device).I have read countless reviews of these handhelds and found that there are many who share the experience that I had, but I also found many who never had an issue. I happened to be one of the unlucky ones it would appear.

After reading some reviews showing that the device is prone to eventually get stuck on the boot screen, I decided to post my own comment.In nearly all cases, the root cause tends to be a poor quality generic SD card from the manufacturer. The solution is to carry out the following 4-step recovery process (detailed instructions can be found on Reddit and other communities):1. First, using suitable software, back up the SD card which came with the handheld onto your computer or external drive (Linux or macOS generally have the best tools for this)2. Go to the manufacturer website (anbernic.com) and download the latest firmware image for your particular model3. Clone this newly downloaded image onto a reputable, name-brand SD card which has at least 32 GB of space (64 or greater is recommended)4. Copy additional backed-up files from step #1 to the correct partition on the new SD card as neededI know this seems tedious if one isn't familiar with cloning and flashing disc images, but this is thankfully a one-time procedure which will give you a device with a reliable SD card which hopefully never gets stuck during boot-up ever again.PS: I know I only mentioned Linux and macOS, but similar tools also exist for Windows and can be easily found by Googling (I personally don't use Windows though, so I can't vouch for them).

Title says it all, this RG35XX H is the best $92 I ever spent on a Handheld that was ready to play right out the box. No fuss, no wasted hours, days or any time on setting up or installing or configuring stuff- just turn on and pick one of the thousands of classic retro console and arcade games and enjoy. Feels great in hands too and mini hdmi port lets me enjoy childhood arcade and console games on 35 inch monitor 5/5 Stars love it.

Straight out of the box the item did not load past the main screen! For $79 it should have worked, returning item now.
